Why this job matters


•    The purpose of the Network Planner role is to manage the capacity to meet forecast demand and to create jobs for the Associate Network Planners to install the new capacity. 

 

What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities

•    Capacity Management
•    Capacity planning and capacity management of  global networks.  Using multiple complex data sources from the live network and the CFU then employing trend analysis to forecast port demand.  Providing detailed solutions for the network delivery team to fulfil. 
•    Analysis production and management of the platform specific capacity plan to meet forecast demand
•    Process issues associated with deployed platforms
•    Key stakeholder consultation including Associate Network Planners and Technical Delivery Managers
•    Accountable for implementing planning rules at device/network level
•    Analyse bid requirements and provide technical answers.
•    Service delivery support – work service delivery issue resolution, across build functions
•    They may typically be involved in the build and configuration of network components of solutions working from detailed design documentation and work independently on small projects 
•    Implement Planning rules
•    Monitor the network
•    Review forecasts
•    Aligning resource for FOA work
•    Insuring network design is fit for purpose
•    Ensure the operating model is adhered to (commercial rigor)
•    Examples: front door assessment, FoA enablement, BRF
•    Point escalation/resolutions for capacity issues – manage/contribute to resolutions
•    Bid response

 

Skills required for the job

•    Mandatory to have experience in the international network planning arena. 
•    Mandatory to have experience in interacting, and negotiating in situations involving multiple cultures. 
•    Mandatory to have technical understanding of SDH, Ethernet, OTN and DWDM functions and configurations.
•    Mandatory to have a strong background in International Telecoms services and conventions. 
•    Desirable to have a strong knowledge of Global Telecoms regulatory environment.
Desirable  to have financial Awareness and ability to manage budgets
•    Desirable to have experience in Operational System Stack and especially in global netork inventory systems and tools.
•    Desirable to have technical understanding of IP and SDWAN functions and configurations.

•    Decides how to satisfy the capacity/programme demand taking into account commercial factors: Examples: Capex/Opex, Benefit, return on investment, deploy new technology, rack extention, card in-fill, consolidation, routing of traffic. 
•    Decides how to do the technology introduction and key stakeholders to involve. Key influencer in decision in relation to location roll-out
•    Decides when to escalate to line manager or other appropriate stakeholder
•    Decides to escalate resource issues against a given project/plan
•    Recommendation in order to reduce timescales which may have cost/quality implications
