Why this job matters
The purpose of the Migrations Manager role is to lead a team of professionals that carry out planned engineering works within Networks, from Scheduling through to Migration, ensuring no unscheduled outage for our customers. This is required to ensure sufficient network capacity is in place to meet forecast demand to deliver business objectives to time, cost and quality.
It is an extremely varied role which will allow you to experience several areas of the network, developing skills and capabilities to support your personal growth and the BT Network Goals.
You’ll work on key projects for National Critical Infrastructure, providing the network which keeps the nation safe and protected. Our commitments with Ofcom means we have to be sensitive with the information we share and who we share it with, you’ll work with integrity and mindfulness to ensure we remain compliant.
This role follows a hybrid model, requiring three night shifts in the office and one night shift from home each week.
What you’ll be doing
- Provides sound technical expertise to deliver timely response to queries, identifying and mitigating operational risks as appropriate.
- Full contribution to development of guidelines and policies to manage network integration.
- Provides support and advice to deliver operational activities, using sound technical capabilities to deliver relevant plans while ensuring adherence to standards.
- Delivers high-impact operational activities, monitoring performance and ensuring feedback is inputted to the management process.
- Develops effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to explore opportunities for partnership, acting as the point of escalation for issue resolution.
- Uses technical expertise to propose integration processes, including the development and proof of concept, engagement of front door and process validation.
- Seeks continuous improvement and efficiency opportunities in order to automate, centralise, standardise and simplify processes, contributing to the delivery of improvement projects and initiatives.
- Handles routine legal matters and provides advice within an established framework.
- Responsible for delivery of complex or undefined plans to provide effective network capacity.
- Provides legal support to members of the Legal team including conducting research and undertaking projects under the guidance of more senior legal professionals.
- May represent the company in legal proceedings.
- Accountable for the delivery and evaluation of plans in terms of design, resource and budget constraints.
- Ability to travel to other strategic locations
What you'll bring
Mandatory
- Demonstrable experience in Nokia Service Routers or Router technologies.
- Project management / delivery experience.
- Leadership Capabilities- Driving a high performing team, empowering others through coaching and development.
- Effective Communicator - Experience of communicating and presenting to senior level stakeholders the progress, risks and issues of a project.
- Stakeholder Management – Experience of engaging with external teams, identifying their needs and setting expectations.
- Technical Leadership - Skilled in engaging in technical conversations or have the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
Desirable
- Demonstratable experience of Converged Core scheduling and Integration
- Knowledge of BTs 20 and 21 Century Network
- Qualification or Experience in Continuous improvement Methodologies
- Project Management qualification
- Qualification or Experience in Risk Management
- Qualification or Experience in budget management
