About the role
The RAR Designer is responsible for designing, configuring, and supporting SAP Revenue Accounting & Reporting (RAR) capabilities within BT’s SAP S/4HANA Finance landscape.
The role ensures accurate revenue recognition, IFRS 15 compliance, and seamless integration across upstream (SD/BRIM/legacy) and downstream Finance processes.
What you’ll be doing
SAP RAR Design & Configuration
• Design and configure SAP RAR objects, including:
o Revenue contracts and contract modifications
o Performance Obligations (POBs)
o Revenue allocation, recognition, and event based postings
• Support end to end revenue accounting scenarios aligned with IFRS 15.
• Configure RAR integration with SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI GL, FI AR).
• Assist in defining RAR postings, reconciliation rules, and reporting logic.
Data Integration & Transformation (BODS)
• Design and support data extraction and transformation using SAP BODS.
• Build and validate data flows from:
o Legacy systems / SD / BRIM
o SAP RAR staging and sub ledger
• Ensure data completeness, consistency, and reconciliation across RAR and FI.
Finance & FICO Collaboration
• Work with Finance stakeholders to translate business revenue rules into SAP RAR design.
• Support period close, revenue posting, and reconciliation activities.
• Assist in resolving defects related to revenue accounting, posting errors, and data mismatches.
• Ensure alignment with financial controls, audit, and compliance requirements.
Testing, Deployment & Support
• Support unit testing, integration testing (SIT), UAT, and defect resolution.
• Assist with cutover, post go live support, and hypercare for RAR.
• Prepare functional design documents, configuration rationales, and support artefacts.
Essential Skills / Experience
• 3–7 years of experience in SAP Finance or Revenue Accounting solutions.
• Strong hands on experience with SAP RAR.
• Solid understanding of SAP S/4HANA Finance (FICO).
• Experience with SAP BODS for data extraction and transformation.
• Good understanding of IFRS 15 and revenue recognition principles.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with complex financial data models.
Desirable Skills / Experience
• Experience with SD, BRIM, or subscription based revenue models.
• Exposure to RAR data migration or historical revenue loading.
• Knowledge of financial close and reconciliation processes.
• Experience working in Agile or hybrid SAP delivery models.
• SAP S/4HANA Finance or RAR certification
