About the role

The Software Engineering Professional supports the execution of BTs software engineering strategy through cross-functional delivery, contributing to the development of technical solutions and platforms that enable innovation and engineering excellence.

What you’ll be doing

Application Development
 • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript. 
 • Develop scalable RESTful APIs and microservices following API-first and domain-driven design principles. 
 • Build responsive frontend applications using React knowledge.
 • Design event-driven and asynchronous systems using messaging platforms where applicable. 
 • Develop reusable components and shared libraries. 


 Cloud & AWS
 • Design and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS. 
 • Develop serverless solutions using AWS Lambda. 
 • Manage application storage using Amazon S3. 
 • Work with containerized applications using Docker. 
 • Configure application monitoring and logging. 
 • Understand cloud networking concepts including IAM, VPC, Security Groups, ALB/NLB, and Route53. 
 • Support deployment on ECS/EKS environments. 

 
DevOps & CI/CD
 • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines. 
 • Automate build, testing, deployment, and release processes. 
 • Containerize applications using Docker. 
 • Support infrastructure automation and environment provisioning. 
 • Manage application deployments across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments. 
 • Integrate quality and security gates into CI/CD pipelines. 


 Database Engineering
 • Design and optimize relational and NoSQL databases. 
 • Develop efficient SQL queries and stored procedures. 
 • Perform query optimization and indexing. 
 • Design scalable database schemas. 
 • Handle database migrations and versioning. 
 • Ensure data consistency and integrity across distributed applications. 


 Security & DevSecOps
 • Implement secure coding practices. 
 • Develop authentication and authorization using OAuth2, JWT, and role-based access control. 
 • Secure REST APIs against common vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10). 
 • Implement encryption for sensitive data in transit and at rest. 
 • Perform dependency vulnerability scanning. 
 • Integrate security validation into CI/CD pipelines. 
 • Collaborate with security teams to resolve vulnerabilities and compliance findings. 


Monitoring & Observability
 • Implement application monitoring using Dynatrace, Prometheus and Grafana. 
 • Create dashboards for application health, API performance, JVM metrics, and infrastructure monitoring. 
 • Configure alerts for production incidents. 
 • Perform root cause analysis and performance tuning. 


 Collaboration
 • Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, QA, DevOps, and Security teams. 
 • Participate in Agile ceremonies. 
 • Produce technical documentation and architecture diagrams.
