Why this job matters
In this role, the holder will be part of a 24x7 rota team responsible for the monitoring, management, and restoration of services across platforms within the BT Media & Broadcast network portfolio, working closely with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
The customer product portfolio covers broadcast television, radio, and media data transmission services. Daily responsibilities include liaising with customers such as the BBC, ITV, Telstra, BFBS, and Freeview providers; managing transport streams carrying television feeds across the UK; ensuring services meet the high quality standards expected; delivering network change as part of business-as-usual activity, including planned engineering works (PEWs); and carrying out routine activities across the D34 multiplexing network.
The role holder is primarily responsible for maintaining networks that carry live video and audio content, utilizing advanced technical expertise gained through training and experience, while working closely with internal and external customers and suppliers.
The role also requires accurate and timely reporting of any issues that affect, or have the potential to affect, services managed within the TV portfolio. In addition, the role holder is expected to promote and enhance customer perception of the TV service in line with ITIL best practice.
The is a full-time role, follows a 5-week rota pattern and includes a mixture of day and night shifts, weekdays and weekends. The rota repeats every 5 weeks and is available in advance to help with planning leave and personal commitments.
- Shift times include 7 till 7 for long day and night shifts, and 8 till 6 for the short-week day shift.
- There may be occasions when you are required to work nights, weekends, Christmas, and bank holidays as part of the rota.
What you'll be doing
- Monitor, manage and maintain TV service delivery on a 24/7/365 basis
- Respond rapidly and effectively to service problems and issues
- Ensure maximum service continuity with minimal downtime
- Support the Planned Engineering process
- Ensure engineering tasks are delivered to required specifications and timelines
- Drive cost and time-efficient delivery of engineering activities
- Support the ongoing performance and reliability of TV platforms and services
- Working across our Vena, D34,BFBS and Auroa Platforms
Essential Skills / Experience
- Exceptional customer service of both internal and external stakeholders
- Working within a highly pressurised environment under urgent, tight timescales
- Good understanding of BTs network and infrastructure

Desirable Skills / Experience
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting IP, WAN and LAN network infrastructures in a 24/7 operational environment
- Experience of working within ITIL-based service management frameworks, including Incident, Problem and Change Management
- Experience with network monitoring, fault management, incident resolution and root cause analysis
- Understanding of media and broadcast transport networks, contribution and distribution services, and video/audio over IP technologies.
