About the role

BT is building and operating the UK's next generation Mission Critical Services platforms, delivering secure, resilient and highly available communications capabilities that support emergency services, public safety organisations and other critical national infrastructure customers.
As an MCX Platform Specialist, you will be responsible for the operational support, performance, resilience and continuous improvement of BT's Mission Critical Services platforms. Working within a highly skilled team, you will provide technical expertise across platform operations, incident resolution, service optimisation, change implementation and lifecycle management, ensuring services meet demanding availability, security and performance requirements.
This role provides the opportunity to work with cutting-edge mission critical technologies including MCX services, VMware Telco Cloud Platform, Kubernetes and 4G/5G Core networks, helping to deliver communications services where reliability and customer trust are paramount.

What you’ll be doing

•    Operate, support and maintain Mission Critical Services (MCX) platforms, ensuring high levels of availability, performance and resilience. 
•    Monitor platform health and service performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact customers. 
•    Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across applications, infrastructure, virtualisation and networking domains. 
•    Support and manage incidents, problems and changes in accordance with operational processes and service level commitments. 
•    Execute platform upgrades, patches, configuration changes and new feature deployments. 
•    Work closely with engineering teams, vendors and customers to diagnose issues and drive permanent resolutions. 
•    Support the introduction of new services and capabilities through operational readiness and service acceptance activities. 
•    Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and knowledge articles. 
•    Identify opportunities for service optimisation, automation and continuous improvement. 
•    Contribute to platform security, compliance and resilience activities. 
•    Participate in on-call and out-of-hours support arrangements as required. 
•    Act as a technical subject matter expert for Mission Critical Services platforms and supporting technologies. 
•    Take ownership of issues through to resolution, doing what is needed to deliver the right outcome for the customer.

Essential Skills / Experience

•    Knowledge of Mission Critical Services (MCX) technologies, including MCPTT, MCData and MCVideo.
•    Knowledge of 4G LTE Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and 5G Standalone (5G SA) Core technologies.
•    Understanding of subscriber management, mobility, policy control, quality of service and end-to-end service troubleshooting.
•    Experience working with VMware Telco Cloud Platform (TCP).
•    Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and containerised applications.
•    Solid understanding of Cisco networking technologies.
•    Strong knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, including routing and switching.
•    Experience troubleshooting complex issues across applications, containers, virtualised infrastructure and telecommunications networks.
•    Experience supporting business-critical or mission-critical services.
•    Familiarity with Incident, Problem and Change Management processes.
