About the role

The Organisational Performance & Benchmarking Analyst reports to the Senior Organisation Performance Lead within the Business Architecture team, part of BT Group's Strategy & Change function. The team helps shape how BT measures, understands and improves organisational performance across the Group, supporting strategic decision-making and transformation activity.

 

You will support the development and operation of BT Group's organisational performance framework by providing robust analysis, benchmarking and insight. Working across Strategy, Finance, Transformation, Data and business units, you will help create a clear view of organisational performance, productivity, efficiency and value. 

 

The role is responsible for turning complex datasets into trusted measures, dashboards and decision-ready insights that enable leaders to make informed choices. You will help establish baselines, identify performance drivers, understand cost structures and develop meaningful internal and external benchmarks. 

 

In the near term, the role will focus on rigorous analysis, reporting and benchmarking. Over time, you will play a key role in building BT Group's organisational benchmarking capability through the application of AI, automation and advanced analytics. This includes exploring how publicly available data can be sourced, structured and interrogated at scale, enabling BT to move from periodic benchmarking studies to a continuously evolving insight capability that supports strategic decision-making and organisational performance improvement.

What you’ll be doing

Performance Measurement & Analysis

  • Analyse organisational performance, productivity, efficiency and cost data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain performance dashboards, reporting packs and management information for senior stakeholders.
  • Support the delivery of the Group organisational performance framework through trusted measures, standards and analytical insights.
  • Work closely with Finance teams to understand cost drivers, value creation opportunities and the performance impacts of strategic change initiatives.
  • Perform scenario, sensitivity and trend analysis to support prioritisation and decision-making.
  • Translate complex analysis into concise, evidence-based recommendations for leadership stakeholders.

 

Benchmarking & Performance Insight

  • Establish and maintain performance baselines, benchmarks and measurement methodologies.
  • Conduct internal and external benchmarking studies using a range of data sources and market intelligence.
  • Develop and maintain a repository of internal and external benchmarking data to support performance analysis, target setting and decision-making.
  • Identify and evaluate publicly available data sources to create meaningful organisational, productivity and cost benchmarks.
  • Design approaches that enable leaders to interrogate benchmarking data dynamically and identify improvement opportunities.

 

AI, Automation & Analytics Innovation

  • Apply AI, automation and advanced analytics techniques to improve the collection, organisation and analysis of benchmarking information.
  • Support the development of a scalable AI-enabled benchmarking capability that can source, classify and coordinate external data from multiple public sources.
  • Work with Data and Digital teams to explore machine learning, natural language processing and generative AI tools that enhance benchmarking and insight generation.
  • Identify opportunities to automate analysis, reporting and benchmarking activities.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience using data to assess organisational performance, productivity, efficiency or business performance.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including the ability to understand cost drivers, quantify impacts and connect performance measures to business value.
  • Experience applying AI, automation or advanced analytics techniques to solve business problems, with the ability to develop AI-enabled benchmarking and insight capabilities that leverage internal and publicly available data sources.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience within telecommunications, technology, infrastructure or other large-scale operational businesses.
  • Knowledge of organisational performance, productivity and benchmarking methodologies.
  • Experience using Power BI, SQL, Python or similar analytics tools to analyse large and complex datasets.
  • Experience supporting strategy, transformation, finance or enterprise performance functions.
  • Experience sourcing and working with publicly available datasets and external market intelligence.
  • Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to senior stakeholders.
