About the role
You'll be joining a specialist team within Business that is a trusted partner to governments worldwide, protecting critical national infrastructure and committed to the safety and security of our nation and global communities.
Specifically, under this role, you will be working in the Data, Design and Engineering team, responsible for delivering new projects to enable BT to meet its legal Obligations under the Investigatory Powers Act (IPA 2016).
This job role is based in Ipswich. Hybrid (3 days office based & 2 days remote). Mon-Fri 37.5. SC Security Clearance is required. Must have lived in UK for 5+ years to obtain clearance.
What you’ll be doing
- Responsible for the understanding, risk reviews and improvement of existing Data Quality checking process in place within both the Security division and the rest of BT such that when data reaches the Disclosure Team any risks are fully understood and where possible mitigated before that data is used for lawful purposes.
- Identify any data quality risks for new sources of data both from within and outside BT that are used within Disclosure.
- Responsible for working with the rest of the Obligations Technical teams to enable the development and review of Data sources to ensure the correct data reaches the Disclosure Team so the data can be delivered confidently against the disclosure legal obligations.
- Responsible for delivering Data Quality test cases to assure the integrity of new disclosure products, data feeds, and broader Data Quality initiatives.
- Accountable for implementing robust Data Quality reporting aligned to both operational requirements and DDE team objectives.

- Regulatory awareness: Knowledge of UK legislation such as the Investigatory Powers Act and how that can be applied to disclosure of communications data or content.
- Effective relationships: Develops practical and open relationships across Customers, GSS and with other BT teams such as Consumer, Business Technology CTOs.
- Business acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, including people drivers of performance and financial literacy (e.g. business KPIs, business cases).
Brings experience in:
- Developing and implementing data-driven test automation solutions
- Working with cloud environments such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and AWS
