About the role
The Procurement Professional supports the delivery of procurement and commercial activities across BT's OpEx Optimisation and Circular Economy portfolio within Networks. The role is responsible for executing sourcing projects, delivering analytical insights, coordinating stakeholder engagement and supporting cost optimisation, revenue generation and sustainability initiatives. Working closely with Procurement Managers and business stakeholders, the role contributes to the successful delivery of procurement programmes across BT Networks, Openreach and BT International while developing procurement expertise and commercial capability.
What you will be doing (Role Accountabilities)
Procurement & Sourcing
• Deliver sourcing activities in compliance with BT Procurement policies and processes.
• Support the development and execution of sourcing strategies for cost optimisation and service improvement opportunities.
• Manage RFx activities, supplier evaluations, commercial assessments and contract documentation.
• Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify opportunities and emerging trends.
• Support commercial negotiations and supplier discussions to achieve value for BT.
Operational Delivery
• Partner with business stakeholders to identify procurement opportunities and requirements.
• Support initiatives focused on support & maintenance optimisation, stock optimisation, repairs, reverse logistics and circular economy programmes.
• Lead smaller sourcing projects independently and contribute to larger strategic initiatives.
• Ensure procurement activities are delivered to agreed timelines and governance requirements.
• Track project benefits, savings and performance metrics.
Reporting & Analytics
• Produce regular reporting and analytical insights to support decision-making.
• Analyse spend, supplier performance and commercial opportunities.
• Maintain procurement data and ensure accuracy of savings and project tracking.
• Support preparation of business cases and recommendation papers.
Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve ways of working.
• Contribute ideas that enhance efficiency, commercial outcomes and sustainability performance.
• Support implementation of procurement best practices across the category.
What you’ll need to succeed (Skills & Experience)
Skills - Essential
• Experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Commercial Management or related disciplines.
• Good understanding of sourcing and procurement processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and procurement reporting tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
Skills – Desirable
• Experience with e-Sourcing platforms, SAP, Ariba or equivalent procurement systems.
• Experience supporting sourcing, supplier management or optimisation projects.
• Knowledge of telecoms, technology or network services environments.
• Understanding of circular economy, sustainability or asset recovery programmes.
