About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping procurement strategy and delivery across BT’s IT Software category, with a focus on Colleague Experience & Productivity. The Procurement Manager will lead category planning, strategic sourcing and procurement business partnering, developing sourcing strategies, running RFx activity and managing contracting in line with procurement frameworks, policies and governance requirements. The role will work closely with senior stakeholders and key suppliers to deliver commercial value, strengthen procurement capability and support business transformation.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and deliver category strategies and sourcing plans that support business priorities and transformation goals.
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including market analysis, supplier evaluation, RFx processes, negotiations and contract execution.
  • Manage category spend and supplier performance to drive commercial value, cost optimisation and risk reduction.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to ensure procurement solutions meet business needs and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Negotiate and manage commercial and contractual agreements with key IT software suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, governance requirements and risk management frameworks.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation and digital transformation across the category.
  • Support procurement capability development through knowledge sharing and coaching within the wider team.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Experience in IT software procurement, category management or strategic sourcing, with strong knowledge of supplier markets and commercial models.
  • Proven ability to lead complex software sourcing programmes from strategy development through to contract award and implementation.
  • Track record of delivering commercial value, cost savings and risk reduction through effective sourcing, supplier and contract management.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across business and supplier communities.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Major software vendor experience: Experience managing strategic supplier relationships and commercial negotiations with leading enterprise software providers.
  • Software licensing and SAM: Knowledge of licensing models, subscription and SaaS agreements, compliance, audit management and software asset optimisation practices.
  • Digital transformation: Experience supporting cloud migration, enterprise application modernisation or technology-enabled business change programmes.
  • Professional procurement qualification: MCIPS qualified, or equivalent accreditation, with knowledge of procurement governance, risk and commercial best practice.
  • Procurement technology: Experience using sourcing, contract lifecycle management or supplier management platforms, such as SAP Ariba or equivalent tools.
