About the role

This role supports and implements the pan BT Business data strategy to deliver strategic outcomes for the business. The role will also support implementation of an effective model for BT Business on data governance, data management and data quality.
This role sits in the Data Strategy & Enablement Team, is a key part of the Data Transformation Program and drives the data needs across BT Business, spanning both strategic and operational domains.

What you’ll be doing

1.Data Governance:

• Support in developing and implementing BT Group data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures ensuring alignment with business objectives and establishing data as an asset that delivers value
• Helping define, monitor and manage processes for monitoring data governance policies, procedures, and standards (e.g. meta data, data lineage, data quality)
• Helping define and establish data ownership and stewardship model with roles and responsibilities across the organisation.
• Support the Data Governance manager to Oversee data stewardship activities to maintain high data quality and consistency
• Support define and enforce metadata management and data lineage practices
• Support the Data Governance manager to collaborate with key stakeholders across business units to ensure buy-in and sponsorship of data governance initiatives.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data governance control processes and platforms.
• Provide training and guidance on data governance best practices and tools.

2.Data Transformation:

• Input into shaping the Data transformation program  

Essential Skills / Experience

Functional Knowledge and Technical Skills

•Stay updated on the latest industry trends and advancements on data governance tools and techniques
•Familiar with Data Governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA).
•Knowledge of data models, lineage, and enterprise data platforms.  
•Data Lineage: Ability to document and visualise data flow from source to consumption
 
Business Expertise

•Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
•Influence across Business functions on data governance topics. 
•Ability to work collaboratively with Data Owners, Stewards, and business units to resolve data governance issues. 
•Ability to identify and implement enhancements to data government framework
•Understanding of business-critical data domains (e.g. customer, product, finance) and their operational impact. 
•Translating technical data issues into business relevant language for non-technical audie
