About the role

The BT Defence security team have an exciting new role available, operating and supporting secure practices for new and existing contracts. This will suit seasoned professionals or emergent talent, giving the opportunity for the right person to bring their experience and fresh ideas to the table. You’ll learn from those around you and be part of a friendly team, safeguarding the security interests of BT and our highly valued customer.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide general security advice and promote best practice, giving direction to internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage personnel security for multiple contracts in the Defence sector.
• Support the delivery and maintenance of our ISO27001 certification.
• Support security audits and obligations management, understanding the importance of evidence to demonstrate compliance.
• Support security investigations and remediation, applying discretion and respecting the need for confidentiality.

Essential Skills / Experience

 • Hold or be capable of achieving and maintaining the required security clearance (minimum SC).
• Keen interest in security management.
• Confident and assured in upskilling to become an SME within the BT Defence security team.
• Enquiring mind, thirst for knowledge, and willingness to learn and upskill quickly.
• Understand the importance of maintaining awareness of our evolving security and threat landscape.
• Approachable and able to work with (and provide security support to) other teams.

Desirable Skills / Experience

• Have knowledge and experience of ISO27001
• Have worked in a security led environment
• Be experienced in working in major public industry sectors e.g. Defence (MoD) and/or HM Government departments or agencies.
• Have knowledge and experience with MoD JSP440/490/453, Cyber Security Model and Defence policies such as DEFCON 658 and DEFSTAN 05-138
