About the role

This role is vital to maintaining reliable international roaming services for EE customers and inbound roamers. It provides technical leadership and operational expertise to protect customer experience, service availability, revenue and the successful introduction of new roaming capabilities and technologies.

What you’ll be doing

Design, onboard and manage Telco Cloud platforms based on VMware Telco Cloud Platform technologies.
Design and govern Kubernetes (TKG) cluster architectures across Core, Edge and RAN domains.
Develop and manage onboarding processes for CNFs and cloud-native network applications.
Create deployment templates, policies and automation workflows to support platform consistency and operational efficiency.
Configure and maintain Telco Cloud Automation (TCA) solutions for multi-domain orchestration.
Design cloud-native networking solutions including Multus, SR-IOV and IPv6 networking architectures.
Drive automation for deployment, patching, scaling, healing and lifecycle management activities.
Optimise platform performance to meet telco-grade latency, throughput and availability requirements.
Provide support for operational incidents, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Collaborate with vendors and network function providers to onboard and deploy new services.
Ensure compliance with security, governance and operational standards.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, onboarding guides and operational procedures.
Support platform monitoring, reporting and continuous service improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills / Experience

5+ years designing and delivering enterprise virtualised infrastructure solutions.
Experience designing VMware platforms in large-scale service provider, data centre or enterprise environments.
Demonstrable experience producing HLDs, LLDs and technical architecture documentation.
Experience with enterprise networking and storage architectures.
Experience supporting infrastructure lifecycle management and upgrade programmes.

 

Strong experience with VMware Telco Cloud Platform (TCP).
Strong understanding of VMware Telco Cloud Automation (TCA).
Practical experience managing Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG) environments.
Strong Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting skills.
Understanding of containerised network functions (CNFs), virtual network functions (VNFs) and cloud-native network architectures.


Experience with:
    NSX-T
    Kubernetes Networking
    Antrea and/or Calico CNI
    VMware Avi Load Balancer (AVI) and AKO
    Multus CNI
    SR-IOV
    DPDK
    CPU Pinning and NUMA Awareness
    IPv4/IPv6 Networking


Knowledge of CI/CD and automation principles.
Strong understanding of security controls including RBAC, image registries and workload security.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Skills / Experience

Mobile Core, IMS, Packet Core or RAN platform experience.
Experience with VMware NSX-T.
Experience with GitOps, Infrastructure as Code and cloud automation frameworks.
Experience working within large-scale telecom operators.
