About the role

We’re looking for an Advanced Meter Professional to act as a subject matter expert for meter operations across the estate of circa 20,000 meters. This is a highly analytical, operationally focused role where you will engage field professionals, back-office teams, technical departments and trusted suppliers to deliver metering infrastructure upgrades. 

You’ll play a key role in managing data collection activities for advanced half hourly meters, delivering meter infrastructure upgrade programmes whilst leading on financials, identifying root causes of issues, driving process improvements and helping the shape the future of the business to embrace upcoming industry changes.

This role is ideal for a someone with strong data, project or metering experience who enjoys problem solving and has good technical proficiency. 


This role can be based in either BT's Glasgow office or Manchester office (Glasgow is preferred)

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Data Collection: Management of circa 20k meters ensuring daily data collection activities are performed. 
  • Key Performance Indicators: Sustain performance in line with supplier KPIs and ownership of reporting. 
  • Operational Management:  Lead on meter activities across multiple teams, internal development and energy teams, meter operator, trusted suppliers, distributors and power skilled field professionals. 
  • Metering Infrastructure: Lead programme to underpin legacy communications exit and end of life replacements. 
  • Maintain In-Life metering: Identifying and delivering process efficiency and improvements. 
  • Market Wide Half Hourly: Engage industry to lead on our transition to a new data collector role. 
  • Financial Lead: Managing outlook, creating purchase orders, reporting and driving programmes to deliver against financial commitments.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Organization: High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competence in using manufacturers software, databases and Microsoft Excel.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues, resolve them quickly and modify processes as prevention. 
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for coordinating with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience:  In industry, data, financial or delivery management.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Metering Industry: Lead role in Meter back-office operations, Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) or Data Collection.
  • Technical Experience: Large scale roll-out projects working with technical departments.
  • Financial: Experience in leading on finances, raising PO’s and undertaking on time supplier receipting. 
  • Electrical: Good knowledge and understanding.
