About the role

The Software Engineering Specialist independently executes advanced activities to deliver the engineering strategy and roadmap that supports BT's commercial strategy through cross functional business partnering and the participation of a team that pursues innovation as well as engineering excellence.

What you’ll be doing

  I2C Process Design & Transformation
 Lead assessment and optimisation of end-to-end I2C processes (Billing → Cash Application → Collections)
 Drive initiatives for: 
o Cash flow optimisation
o Automation and digitisation of AR processes
 Ensure alignment with enterprise finance strategy and working capital objectives


SAP FI-AR Solution Ownership
• Act as functional lead for SAP I2C solutions, covering: 
o FI-AR (Accounts Receivable)
o Billing (SD Integration)
o Credit Management
o Collections & Dispute Management
o Cash Application & Payments
o Bank Accounting (EBS)  
• Own solution design, configuration, and functional architecture
• Define and review Functional Design Specifications (FSDs)


Stakeholder Engagement & Consulting
• Engage with senior business stakeholders to: 
o Gather, challenge, and refine requirements  
o Provide solution recommendations and alternatives
• Influence decision-making and drive adoption of best practices
• Act as a trusted advisor for finance Transformation initiative


 Implementation & Delivery Leadership
• Lead end-to-end delivery across: 
o Requirement gathering → Design → Build → Test → Deploy
• Drive: 
o SIT/UAT execution
o Defect triage and resolution
o Go-live and cutover planning
• Ensure high-quality delivery artefacts (BRD, FSD, test plans)  

 

 Integration & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Ensure seamless integration with: 
o SD (Order-to-Cash)
o R2R (GL, reporting)
o S2P (AP & payments)
o External systems (banks, billing systems, APIs)
• Work with global IT teams, vendors, and system integrators


Data, Controls & Governance
• Define data requirements and support data migration and validation  
• Ensure compliance with: 
o Financial controls
o Audit and regulatory requirements
• Improve AR governance and reconciliation processes


Continuous Improvement & Automation
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on: 
o Process standardisation
o Automation (RPA / AI / API-led integrations)
• Analyse KPIs (DSO, aging, collection efficiency) to drive performance improvements 

Essential Skills / Experience

• Functional Expertise
o Strong knowledge of: 
 SAP FI-AR (Accounts Receivable)
 Invoice-to-Cash / Lead-to-Cash processes    
 Billing Invoice Integration (SD-FI Integration) 
 Cash Applications 
 Collection Management
 Bank Accounting & EBS ( Electronic Bank Statements) 
 Payment & Clearing 
o Understanding of: Pricing, taxes, billing, and logistics integration  
o Experience with S/4HANA Finance implementations or migrations

 

• Technical & Integration Skills
Experience in: 
o SAP Integration Suite / CPI
o APIs and Web Services  
o Understanding of cross-module integrations (FI-SD, FI-MM)


• Professional Experience
o Typically, 9-12 years of SAP Finance experience
o Proven experience in: 
o End-to-end I2C implementations
o Requirement gathering & stakeholder management  
o Exposure to Agile delivery environments
