About this role


In this role you’ll be leading the engineering team building the chat and conversational capability used across our brands. This is a key position that working with our tech partners, stakeholders and the customer service teams will help shape and deliver a best in class digital customer experience across our support and sales channels.


You'll have the following responsibilities


  • Active member of the Engineering Leadership team
  • Act as the key technical point of contact for internal customers and the product Owner community digital capability
  • Responsible for platform technical roadmap creation and prioritisation aligned to agreed business outcomes
  • Coaches and manages a cross functional teams of developers, testers, analysts and DevOps Engineers building digital capability
  • Decides on test technology and techniques, which will be transformed from manual to automated practices
  • Decides priorities for defect management & Technical debt
  • Monitors and drives fixes for live defects / bugs
  • Accountable for code security and compliance
  • Works with Operations and Support teams as required
  • Understanding complex / conflicting business requirements and delivering to tight deadlines


You'll have the following skills & experience


  • Experience leading teams building digital product and APIs in a high volume environment – either as a development manager or technical lead
  • Excellent internal and external senior stakeholder management
  • Enthusiastic Agile practitioner
  • Technical expertise across Development, Testing, Test Automation and CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge about Cloud Solutions design and deployment
  • Understanding / curiosity of emerging technologies
  • Problem Solving and analytical skills
  • Able to identify, recruit and train the next generation of software engineers and testers
  • 6+ years in multi-disciplined software application development, multi app / multi-platform
  • Experience in delivery of highly transactional platforms that are available 24/7
  • Experience in leading development teams, composed of insourced and outsourced resources
  • Worked with and refined DevOps CI/CD pipelines
  • Exposure to BDD & TDD approaches and tooling
  • Knowledge of Javascript, Java and web architecture


"Nice to have" skillset :

  • Knowledge of Flutter app development
  • Knowledge of React.js web development
