Why this job matters
The post-holder will lead a matrixed and multi-functional team to manage the annual Price Yield Management price increases from across BT lines of business and business partners. The Price Yield Management function covers multiple products in the Mobility, Connectivity and Voice product portfolios that will have a mixture of either fixed percentage, CPI+ or pounds/pence increases applied. These price changes will drive and support the business success of BT Business in terms of market leadership, revenue and profit growth, cost reduction and customer experience. This is a critical annual programme that delivers circa £90m of MTP benefit on an annual basis.
What you’ll be doing
The Portfolio Development Manager (PDM) leads multifunctional teams across BT Business and business partners to develop and launch profitable products as part of the BT Portfolio Strategy, to create the most commercially successful portfolio of networked IT services. These portfolio developments will drive and support the business success of BT Business in terms of market leadership, revenue and profit growth, cost reduction and customer experience.
The role of the post-holder has the following principal components that include:
- Project management of multiple complex annual Price Yield Management projects across Mobility, Connectivity and Voice products against all BT Business Channels.
- Good understanding of Portfolio Organisations and BT Business Areas requirements in day-to-day working with regard to investment proposals and portfolio development plans for the financial year in the relevant portfolio areas.
- Contribute to the creation of portfolio development roadmaps for specific portfolio areas with Capability Leads and cross-functional teams. To include initial high-level assessments of timescales and costs.
- Delivery of portfolio developments and launches to time, cost and quality as measured through the relevant agreed goals, objectives and KPIs.
- Contribute within the business context of achievement of the relevant business benefits (revenue, profitability, cost saving, customer experience) as per the approved business cases and as reviewed at Post Investment Reviews
- Leadership, management and inspiration of the multifunctional virtual team in the context of direction setting and motivation of the team in the context of better, faster, cheaper portfolio development, which drives competitiveness and growth and puts the customer first. Leadership also involves the proactive reflection of market unit and capability unit priorities into team direction.
The skills you’ll need
Experience you'll have
- Project management of multiple complex annual Price Yield Management projects across Mobility, Connectivity and Voice products against all BT Business Channels for all launch phases: justify, define, develop, trial and launch.
- Contributed to the creation of portfolio development roadmaps for specific portfolio areas with Capability Leads and cross-functional teams. To include initial high-level assessments of timescales and costs.
- Leading, managing and inspiring multifunctional virtual teams in the context of direction setting and motivation of the team to ensure better, faster, cheaper portfolio developments, driving competitiveness and growth and putting the customer first.
- At least 2 years of recent and strong end-to-end Programme/Project Management experience.
- A Project Management/Service Management qualification such as Prince, ITIL, PMP, Agile or equivalent.
- Preferred – Customer-facing experience in a Technology and service business, where you have had to make commitments to Enterprise or multinational customers.
- Preferred – Working with security technologies and vendors.
