About this role:


At BT Global, we are undergoing transformative change across our key pillars of portfolio, IT and Business model, where we are creating new customer solutions on a new IT stack and, by doing so, rethinking the experience of our customers and colleagues, and re-imagining how we work end to end. 

As we transform our operating model, we are creating operational and strategic pathways for change in our current portfolio, including creating a value case – based roadmap, product rationalisation strategy and programme of work and importantly, the shape and modularity of our new products. To help us with this, we are looking for an experienced Product Strategist, equipped with passion and experience in helping businesses migrate to agile, lean and modular product practices, clearly and evidently underpinning the business case. 

The role is part of the ‘Roadmap and Product Strategy’ chapter in the Delivery engine of BT Global, reporting to the chapter lead. As a Product Strategist, you will be responsible for meeting the following objectives:

• Translate BT Global vision into strategic and implementation roadmap across Portfolio, Capabilities and Components 

• Drive the approach, scope, definition and operations of Modular Product Strategy

• Deliver on the measurable business outcomes linked to Modular Product Strategy


You'll have the following responsibilities:


• Lead the strategy and design for Modular product Strategy, collaborating with the Product Managers, Sales leadership, Strategy teams and IT teams to ensure that the strategy is feasible and viable to the new BT Global Business Model 

• Interface with Portfolio/Product managers, senior strategists, CIO, Solution Architects and Operations managers to develop and oversee the strategy of the Modular Product Strategy 

• Be responsible for creating a single source of truth for Modular Product Strategy and make our progress visible with key stakeholders in a meaningful way 

• Work closely with the Delivery Chapter to ensure the Portfolio Roadmap is accurate and feeds effectively into the modularity decisions 

• Define, own and continuously refine the portfolio roadmap, in alignment with the portfolio and business strategy and investment priorities

• Interface directly with the DigiCo Capability and Proposition owners to influence and embed the modular approach 

• Interface with our Tech and innovation partners to ensure we are driving a singular approach both strategically and technically 


You'll have the following skills & experience:


• Analytical abilities with experience Data Models and Data Products 

• Experience in expressing product values in a succinct business case 

• Experience in Product Strategy and Business Transformation 

• Experience as a Product Owner

• Excellent leadership, communication and relationship building skills.

• Problem solving and creative thinking aptitude. 

• Functional analysis skills to enable the capture and breakdown of well-formed requirements and priorities.

• Critical thinking skills to enable the articulation of requirements, trade-offs and priorities.

• Stakeholder management: ability to manage and influence stakeholders with competing priorities

• Comfortable working with distributed teams in a collaborative fashion

• Experience of Agile and Lean methodologies and best practices

• Preferred experience with product management tools such as Jira, Confluence & Mural

• Desired experience of Customer Experience, Service Design and user research best practices

• Desired experience of facilitating Design Thinking workshops
