Why this role matters
Our Group Internal Audit team helps BT achieve our purpose by shining a light on what works well and where things can be improved – helping us build solid foundations so we can go faster in delivering and achieving our ambitions.
This is a hands-on position for a forward-thinking Group Internal Audit manager who will deliver a portfolio of audits across BT Group, using their experience of financial, operational and technology controls to agree practical actions that will help BT to improve.
Alongside your audit work, you will have opportunities to work in small teams to deliver continuous improvement initiatives to ensure our team continues to grow - by leveraging data, evolving agile methodologies and reporting strategies etc. This is a great opportunity to make a significant impact on GIA.
What you'll be doing
- Gather business insights from various stakeholders across BT to provide input to Group Internal Audit’s annual plan and the scope of individual audits.
- Deliver end-to-end audits in a risk assessed, timely, and focused manner, utilising data analytics tools where appropriate.
- Monitor the audit budget to minimise overruns and delays.
- Track agreed audit actions to ensure implementation is achieved against targets and the remediation is effective.
- Provide input to the various management fora across BT such as production of papers for quarterly Audit and Risk Committees and other governance committees.
- Contribute to initiatives underpinning the GIA strategy and objectives.
- Provide advice, coaching and mentoring to audit team members where appropriate.
- Initial oversight and first level review of audit work papers prepared by individuals assigned to audit where acting as lead to ensure the work is of good quality and in accordance with the GIA Methodology.
The skills you'll need
- Professional designation (CIIA, CIA, CIMA, ACCA or ICAEW) or sufficient professional experience of auditing that outweighs the need for this.
- Experience of auditing in a complex, regulated business.
- Strong knowledge of controls across finance operations and technology.
- Experience of working with second line of defence assurance teams to align plans.
