As a Solution Architect in Business Identity & Access Management, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our Identity and Access Management (IAM) technical strategy. Your work will ensure customer identities are secure across BT Group, setting the architectural direction and creating agile architectures that deliver clear business value while reducing costs and legacy systems.
You will collaborate with UK-based business leaders and stakeholders to understand strategic goals and translate them into technology solutions. By designing end-to-end business solutions that integrate processes, systems, and data across departments, you will help drive our digital transformation.
Leading cross-functional teams through the solution lifecycle—from ideation to implementation—you will identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities for optimization in business processes and systems. Your guidance on best practices for digital transformation, cloud adoption, and system integration will be crucial.

What you’ll be doing
Enterprise and Business Architecture:

- Work with UK-based business leaders and stakeholders to understand strategic goals and translate them into technology solutions.
- Capture and prioritise market trends, business strategies, and objectives.
- Identify the business benefits of alternative strategies and conduct feasibility studies.
- Lead the creation and review of a systems capability strategy that meets business requirements.
- Develop enterprise-wide architecture and processes to embed strategic change.
- Create end-to-end business solutions that integrate processes, systems, and data across departments.
- Develop and present business cases for high-level initiatives, ensuring compliance with business strategies and technology directions.
- Lead cross-functional teams through the solution lifecycle—from ideation to implementation.
IT Strategy and Planning:

- Ensure stakeholders adhere to IT strategic management approaches and timetables.
- Create reports and insights to support IT strategic management processes.
- Develop and communicate plans to drive forward the strategy.
- Contribute to the development of policies, standards, and guidelines for IT strategy development and planning.
Information Systems Coordination:

- Promote the benefits of a common approach to information and communications technology deployment.
- Coordinate the promotion, acquisition, development, and implementation of information systems and services.
Relationship Management:

- Identify the communication needs of each stakeholder group.
- Facilitate open communication and discussion between stakeholders, acting as a single point of contact.
- Negotiate with senior stakeholders to ensure adherence to organisational policies and strategies.
- Provide informed feedback to assess and promote understanding.
The skills you'll need
- Identity and Access Management: Extensive experience with IAM, including knowledge of regulatory frameworks, industry trends, and vendor products.
- Business Process Modeling: Proficiency in BPMN and enterprise architecture frameworks like TOGAF and Zachman.
- Solution Design Tools: Skilled in using ArchiMate, Visio, and Lucidchart.
- Communication: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and SaaS applications.
- Agile and DevOps: Experience with Agile, DevOps, and digital transformation initiatives is a plus.
- Experience: Successful commercial backgrund in a Solution Architect role.
- Identity Solution Architecture: Experience in Authentication, Authorization, and tools like Okta, Sailpoint, and Savient.
- SDLC: A background in Software Development Life Cycle.
- Customer Solutions: Exposure to B2B & B2C identity customer solutions.
- Business Cases: Experience in producing business cases, gaining approval from senior stakeholders, and ensuring delivery of business benefits.
