Why this job matters
The purpose of this role is to be responsible for the complete Automation platform and the management of the Application Support team – Both Hardware and Software. The SRE Manager – Automation (RPA Blue Prism) is responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions using Blue Prism within the organization.
This role requires deep technical knowledge of Blue Prism, a strong understanding of automation best practices, and proven experience in managing RPA platforms at scale. The Platform Manager will collaborate with business units, IT, and process owners to ensure that automation initiatives are aligned with organizational goals, are robust, secure, and deliver measurable value
This role is pivotal in ensuring the platform’s stability, scalability, and alignment with business automation goals.
What you’ll be doing
• Manage the detailed tasks required to operate high quality Automation solutions in accordance with the agreed delivery methodology
• Oversee the deployment, and maintenance of RPA solutions using Blue Prism.
• Manage the Blue Prism platform, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security.
• Lead a team of support staff to deliver high-quality maintenance to the platform.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify platform opportunities for improvement and develop roadmaps for RPA adoption.
• Establish and enforce best practices, coding standards, and governance frameworks for Blue Prism implementations.
• Monitor platform health, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with IT for infrastructure support and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, data protection, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and deliver training programs for end-users and RPA team members on Blue Prism functionalities and updates.
• Track and report on RPA performance metrics, ROI, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Stay current with Blue Prism product updates, industry trends, and emerging automation technologies.
• Responsible for planning the delivery of incremental VM’s to the estate.
• Managing the cost effective license distribution across the lines of business.
• Overseeing the ASG team with BAU activities such as monitoring DB management and tracking issues. Automating wherever possible
• Ensuring Blue Prism platform is cost effective and low maintenance.
• Reporting on license consumption, network traffic and data volumes per delivery hub
• Remove blockers to delivery and escalate issues when appropriate
• Identifying risks and dependencies and effectively managing these across internal departments as necessary
• Setting industry best practice standards and continually improving the way we work
• Maintaining and Managing the Hardware estate and keeping it secure with uptime of around 99.99% and minimal incidents or platform disruptions.
• Maintaining and Managing the Blueprism automation software with its latest trends and offerings and supporting the tool with uptime of around 99.99% and minimal disruptions to the runs and put generated.
• Oversee setup of platform expansion to open source or any other Platform while we work on the COTs – BluePrism
• Managing platform team and incident across the platform with the team
• Vulnerability management on the platform improving the security posture generally and working to reduce the counts.
• Manging upgrades of the platform instances working with wider CFU teams on this where needed
• Work with Digital COE colleagues on improvement of the platform.
The skills you’ll need
• An understanding of, and a willingness to adhere to, formal change control procedures and disciplines.
• Ability to liaise with senior level stakeholder representatives in a rational and measured manner and to communicate project progress, issues, risks and solutions
• Ability to control meetings and ensure the attendees are focussed on achieving the predefined objectives
• An aptitude for problem solving, with the ability to take a logical route to the source of an error
• Good written skills with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation
• The aptitude to contribute to the adaption and evolution of methodologies and procedures in a controlled manner to continually improve the delivery channel
• Skilled in the Microsoft suite of products and varied experience across other tooling and capabilities.
• 5+ years of experience in RPA, with at least 3 years focused on Blue Prism platform management and development.
• Blue Prism Developer and/or Solution Designer certification(s) strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in managing enterprise-scale RPA platforms and automation teams.
• Strong understanding of process analysis, automation lifecycle, and RPA governance.
• Hands-on expertise in Blue Prism architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience integrating Blue Prism with other enterprise systems (APIs, databases, ERPs, etc.).
• Understanding and Experience of Microsoft Power platform will be a plus.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience or can upskill working on DevOps and Monitoring tools e.g JIRA , Dynatrace, Qualys, Service Now.
• Team management, managing daily standups, triaging issues working through problems with wider teams
• Knowledge of BTon prem cloud-hosted environments
• Familiarity with Blue Prism installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Liaise and work with blue prism vendor.
• Understand of general IT, where to find information in BT and software engineering concepts.
Experience you would be expected to have
• Experience and knowledge of the Agile methodologies
• Proven experience managing enterprise Blue Prism environments (v6 or higher).
• Experience in working on DevOps and Monitoring tools e.g JIRA, Dynatrrace, Qualys
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Competent team player in a diverse cultural environment and multi-international team.
• Experience in Liasing with external vendor partner
• Experience of Microsoft Power Platform will be a plus.
• Any Blue Prism Certifications a bonus.
