Why this job matters

The QA Engineering Professional supports the critical testing activities for a portfolio of products and services, following best practice standards for test quality, resource planning and issue resolution, in alignment to business strategy and requirements.

What you’ll be doing

  • You keep your knowledge up to date with respect to understanding the main products and services for Openreach. This means you know how they are ordered, how faults are fixed, how multiple products fit together, and understand the field engineer’s role.
  • You help with devising and implementing all relevant parts of the test strategy and transformation to make testing better for our customers.
  • You help with continuously improving how the team delivers for our customers
  • You coach new people in the team to achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborating with Networks and OSS Teams to support Continuous Integration Testing.
  • Ensuring high quality of deliverables in terms of new functional and regression scenario validations.

Skills Required

  • Software testing experience of 3 yrs minimum, preferably in telecoms, definitely in complex environment
  • Experienced in Building and implementing QA automation frameworks on TestNG, Selenium and JS
  • Experience with web services technology like XML, REST and SOAP
  • Experience in Building and scaling Docker and related containerization solutions
  • Devops and Continuous Integration tools Knowledge
  • Good functional understanding of Network Elements, Network topologies, Network variants in terms of telecom domain.

 
 
Key Accountabilities

  • Undertakes first level diagnostics, diagnosing defects against components using techniques and tools defined in the test strategy, identifies defects against the correct component in multi-component journeys, writes test specifications and test designs (scripts) and runs the test scripts to time cost and quality
  • Supports into continuous integration testing to support project deliverables
  • Supports the team within its defined area to develop reports on accuracy, quality and errors in test diagnosis against the associated business or customer KPI's
  • Executes automation, functional, regression scenarios, applying solutions that validate the functionality of applications
  • Supports the maintenance of test suites and ensures high-velocity, high-quality production pushes using manual tests
  • Supports the communication of complexities of internal systems to help test against known issues
  • Assesses and suggests ways to mitigate risks that have an impact on the quality of products and services
  • Supports in the implementation of ways to improve working processes within the area of QA engineering responsibility
