Why this job matters

The unit of delivery is the cross functional squad. Embedded Agile Delivery Specialist help make our squads more effective and are liable for driving the delivery and delivery process of our digital products and services towards outcomes.  

What you’ll be doing

1.    Accountable for driving the delivery process of digital products and services towards outcomes within a squad
2.    Drive quarterly and sprint planning by ensuring each timebox has clearly expressed outcomes, KPIs and a well-defined backlog. Ensure continuous alignment and re-alignment with stakeholders.
3.    Orchestrates efforts across disciplines towards clear outcomes. Responsible for maintaining delivery momentum and managing blockers, risks and impediments to progress.
4.    Accountable for applying the most appropriate agile delivery methodology as needed to deliver a successful outcome. Coaches a squad on agile/lean techniques.
5.    Responsible for maintaining delivery momentum. Communicates and visualises progress towards agreed goals and manages and addresses risks, issues and dependencies.
6.    Responsible for ensuring deliverables are defined against clearly articulated outcomes. Ensure work is visible and there is an iterative plan to work towards that is actively communicated and understood by squads & stakeholders.
7.    Responsible for identifying and bringing the right people together at the right time. Understands how and when to include people in communications, agile ceremonies and to make decisions. 
8.    Responsible for facilitating healthy squad dynamics. Ensuring the squad is collaborative and communicating effectively with each other. 
9.    Responsible for leading on creating an environment where continuous improvements of squads' working practices can happen, including measuring success, inspecting and adapting
10.    Actively seeks to improve a squad’s working practices (including coaching on lean/agile practices) where   needed. 

The skills you’ll need

Delivery knowledge and practices.
Known for knowledge and experience of delivery practices and has experience of delivering in an environment using enterprise technology. Can identify and apply the right tools for the job. You know about and can apply a range of Agile and Lean tools and techniques, with an ability to coach your squad(s). You can represent and be an advocate for these tools and techniques. You are innovative and ensure that you are up-to-date with the latest agile delivery and digital product development trends.
Drives a squad to deliver
You can facilitate the delivery flow of a squad, managing the pace and cadence. You can actively address internal and external risks, issues and dependencies including where ownership exists outside the squad. You can effectively manage dependencies, solve issues and unblock problems. You know how to drive squads and set the pace, ensuring squads are working towards defined (and where needed shared) outcomes. You work across functions to ensure goals and scope are defined and there are cross-functional plans in place to make them reality.
Making the delivery process work. 
You focus on the outcome. You can influence and make positive changes to your squad(s). You proactively challenge and seek to improve processes that impact pace and quality of delivery. You can identify what works best for the squad and when to utilise certain processes. You understand that all steps in a process must add value. 
Planning
You know how to lead annual, quarterly, and continuous planning processes, translating product managers' visions into deliverables and delivery plans in a complex, large-scale environment. You ensure that there is an iterative plan to work towards that is well understood by the squad, and deliverables are defined against clearly articulated outcomes. You actively communicate plans, planning assumptions and progress to a range of stakeholders. You ensure that squads plan appropriately for their capacity.
 Squad dynamics and collaboration. 
You know how to bring people together to form a motivated squad. You can help to create the right environment for a squad to work in and can empower them to deliver. You can recognise and deal with issues. You can facilitate the best squad make-up depending on the situation. You ensure squads are collaborative and communicate effectively with each other. You foster an open, collaborative and inclusive working culture.
Continuous improvement & data driven decision making
You can foster a learning culture and know how to create an environment where continuous improvement of your squad(s)’s working practices can happen, including measuring success, inspecting and adapting. You use a data driven approach to help your squad(s) continuously improve. 
Life-cycle perspective. 
You understand the different phases of product delivery and can contribute to, plan or run these. You can maintain and iterate a digital service or product over time to continuously meet (internal or external) user needs. You understand incident management and service support so that products are built effectively. 
Financial management. 
You can support effective budget management within the constraints of business. You know how to monitor projected budgets against expenditure.
Technical Excellence
You can improve technical practices by advocating for a DevOps culture. By understanding and tracking DORA metrics, you can drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure they are incorporated into backlogs where applicable. You can measure and balance time, cost, and quality across all deliverables, developing strategies to optimize technical delivery.
