Why this job matters
The Agile Delivery Specialist works with the squad to ensure effective delivery within established timelines and budget constraints. This role focuses on facilitating and supporting Scrum-oriented activities, including sprint planning, daily scrums, retrospectives, and refinement sessions. The Agile Delivery Specialist collaborates with squad members to proactively identify and address risks or issues that could impact delivery, as well as any cross-squad or tribe dependencies. This is a full-time, hands-on role, working closely with the Squad to ensure seamless and timely execution of deliverables in alignment with the roadmap.
What you’ll be doing
1. Facilitates the day-to-day delivery of the squad, ensuring alignment with the defined roadmap, timeline, and budget constraints.
2. Facilitates key Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily Scrums, retrospectives, and sprint demos, driving team collaboration and efficiency.
3. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and provide regular progress updates, ensuring squad objectives are achieved.
4. Helps in identifying risks and blockers affecting delivery and coordinates mitigation efforts, ensuring smooth squad operations and minimal disruption across tribes.
6. Maintains an objective approach, applying Agile principles to resolve challenges and drive delivery success.
7. Facilitates collaboration across squads to ensure dependencies are managed effectively and delivery is optimized.
8. Works closely with other Agile Performance Coaches to enhance the application of Agile practices and foster collaboration.
9. Ensures adherance to the delivery roadmap, managing scope, budgets, and timelines to meet business expectations.
10. Fosters a continuous improvement mindset, learning, innovation, and effective problem-solving.
11. Facilitates regular reporting on squad progress, highlighting challenges and ensuring transparency with stakeholders to enable timely interventions.
The skills you’ll need
Agile Development: Understands product delivery phases and contributes to planning and execution. Maintains and iterates digital services to meet evolving user needs. Manages incidents and supports services effectively without relying on frameworks like Ready, Set, Go / C2M.
Agile Methodologies: Applies the right Agile and Lean tools for the job. Coaches squads and advocates for modern delivery techniques. Stays current with trends in agile and digital product development.
Proactively addresses internal and external risks, issues, and dependencies—even those outside the squad or Tribe. Unblocks problems and manages dependencies effectively.
Program Increment & Agile Planning: Leads annual, quarterly, and continuous planning. Translates product visions into actionable delivery plans. Communicates assumptions and progress clearly to stakeholders.
Sprint Events/Ceremonies: Facilitates squad delivery flow, managing pace and cadence. Creates empowering environments for squads to thrive.
Cross-Functional Working: Ensures goals and scope are clearly defined across functions. Builds collaborative, inclusive squads with the right mix of skills.
OKRs & KPI Monitoring: Drives squads toward defined outcomes. Sets pace and ensures alignment with shared goals.
Continuous Improvement & Growth Mindset: Fosters a learning culture. Uses data to inspect, adapt, and improve squad practices.
Organisational Transformation: Leads change and manages stakeholders from concept to in-life using established frameworks.
Decision Making & Stakeholder Management: Acts as the glue between disciplines and Tribes. Enables clear communication and drives positive change.
Software Development Lifecycle: Experienced in enterprise technology environments and delivery practices.
Technical Excellence: Advocates DevOps culture and ITSM fundamentals. Tracks DORA metrics to drive improvement. Balances time, cost, and quality across deliverables.
