Why this job matters
The Software Engineering Specialist independently executes advanced activities to deliver the engineering strategy and roadmap that supports BT's commercial strategy through cross functional business partnering and the participation of a team that pursues innovation as well as engineering excellence.
What you’ll be doing
1. Design, Implementation & Maintenance of Cloud native web application; following software development lifecycles.
2. Understanding CI/CD pipeline and Version Control over Git.
3. Knowledge to deliver in Agile Methodology.
4. Ability to do deep dive on technical areas and get the best outcome out of technically challenging situations.
5. Understanding of telecom domain /OSS to help deliver customer solutions.
6. Collaborating with rest of engineering team to achieve common goal of quality & reusable deliverables.
7. Drive strong engineering practices in the team
8. Ability to debug complex issues and provide the right solution
9. Manage concurrent application releases and small engineering teams to deliver quality software releases on time.
10. Exploring opensource technologies to provide industry standard deliverables.
11. Stake holder engagement and deriving business cases.
The skills you’ll need
1. Hands on experience in Java JDK 11+, REST Webservices, Springboot, Spring data, Spring Security, Spring Cloud.
2. Hands on experience on RDBMS and Nosql databases (Neo4j)
3. Hands on experience in Containerising application, K8s.
4. Understanding of observability tools like Prometheus, ELK, Grafana.
5. Understanding of automation tools –Jenkins, Spinnaker and similar
6. Expertise developing and working in a devops operating model.
7. Basic knowledge on Cloud, Openstack, SDN etc is good to have
8. Designing scalable solution for distributed service architecture.
9. Technical Expertise: Be a subject expert and drive shared learning and collaboration. Be a leader in the industry and recognised externally as a thought leader and for making outstanding contributions to the industry, perhaps via a professional body.
10. Strategic / Enterprise Perspective: Able to create and articulate a compelling holistic strategic vision and roadmap to both colleagues and external contractors. This may require an ability to articulate complex information to colleagues working outside the technical space.
11. Change Management/Agile Delivery: Able to create and sustain successful large scale and complex business change. An expert in change management.
12. Process design & documentation: The ability to describe, map and document down to the procedural detail complete processes on a structured way. The ability to organise and structure the process flow in synchronisation with the exchanges with other processes.
