Why this job matters
As the Senior Manager in Cloud Services, you’ll be responsible overseeing & representing all our India-based Cloud Services teams and leading several software engineering and service teams, for fostering a collaborative and open culture, for driving engineering best practices around service delivery and agile software engineering delivery, for managing the customer relationships and funding and for shaping the strategic direction of our products to deliver the roadmap that supports BT's data centre and connectivity strategy.
This role is critical to the our Cloud Services team and the wider BT Group in ensuring the team are wholly integrated into the fabric, culture , operations and communications of the Cloud Services team and that they work seamlessly with UK-based teams and cutomers.
What you’ll be doing
• Oversee, represent & support all our India-based Cloud Services engineering teams
• Lead our India-based Software Engineering teams in collaboration with and contributing to the wider software engineering community in Cloud Services and BT
• Lead several of our India-based managed services teams
• Oversee engineering and operational excellence initiatives, implementing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement through the implementation of processes and tools supporting multiple platforms
• Ensures team standards of engineering and operational excellence are upheld, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement through the creation and implementation of processes and tools supporting multiple platforms
• Oversees the teams in developing an ambitious and compelling technical roadmap to meet the needs of the business, engineering organisation and defined technology strategy
• Drives an engineering & SRE culture that supports innovation and creativity while delivering high quality products with predictability and reliability
• Mentors, coaches, and manages teams & individuals to develop current and future team capabilities and ensure performance in delivering the most impactful features to both internal and external users of the BT team
• Leads the teams in adopting relevant new technologies, tools, methods and processes that progressively advances service capabilities to its different stakeholders
• Builds 'best-in-class' engineering for services by ensuring that the services and the components are well-defined and modularised, secure, reliable, diagnosable, actively monitored and reusable
• Leads the evaluation and implementation of high-quality tools and automation processes to support continuous delivery and developer productivity
• Leads the implementation of continuous improvement opportunities to drive efficiencies across the teams
Mandatory Experience
Proven track record of fostering a modern, agile working culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Proven experience in cultivating a culture of openness, psychological safety, and shared ownership is essential to ensure long-term team engagement and success
Proven ability to lead teams, set goals and drive positive outcomes
Proven experience in financial management, including overseeing team budgets and securing appropriate funding to support strategic initiatives
Proven experience of delivering large projects and transformation from inception to benefits realisation
Experience in building yearly MTPs (Medium-Term Plans) and collaborating with stakeholders to align financial planning with technical and organizational requirements
Proven track record in making data-driven, high-impact decisions, or understanding organsiational change management and long-term planning
Proven experience of software engineering lifecycle including agile delivery and implementing best practice engineering standards
Proven experience of working with technical and non technical internal stakeholders to understand requirements and implications of new technologies.
Collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers to understand, evaluate and validate new technologies / patterns.
