Location

Given the nature of the work in this role, you'll be required to come onside to our office in Ipswich, Adastral Park, 5 days a week.

The Software Engineering Professional supports the execution of the software engineering strategy and roadmap that supports BT's commercial strategy through cross functional project and technical delivery and the participation of a team that pursues innovation as well as engineering excellence.

What you’ll be doing

  • This role involves coding and problem-solving skills to design, deliver and maintain software solutions for our customer.  
  • Experience designing & development in REACT, TypeScript, C#, JavaScript  
  • This role involves developing and delivering software solutions through automation. 
  • Ability to do deep dive on technical areas and get the best outcome out of technically challenging situations. 
  • Able to get hands on through all stages of the ITIL lifecycle, and to support BAU within escalated incidents.  (e.g. incident, change, problem, and release management).
  • Understand need of multiple projects and communicate them divisionally and/or cross-divisionally  
  • Contribute to the definition of the team processes and standards.  
  • Manage concurrent packages of work, to deliver quality software releases on time.  
  • Knowledge to deliver following AGILE Methodologies.  
  • Reviews own work and peers’ outputs to contribute to identify and flag errors or potential issues.
  • Help drive strong engineering practices in the team. 
  • Ability to debug complex issues and provide the right solution. 
  • Can develop robust and secure code.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in C# (or similar) backend development.
  • Proficiency in React frontend development with a good understanding of its ecosystems. 
  • Experience in working with modern application frameworks. 
  • Sound knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) Patterns and Concepts. 
  • Familiarity with different design and architectural patterns. 
  • Skill for writing reusable React libraries.  
  • Ability to write clean, readable React code. 
  • Understanding basic design principles behind a scalable application. 
  • In-depth knowledge of code versioning tools, for instance, Git. 

 

Note:  

  • You will need to be eligible to hold a minimum of SC clearance with no restrictions
  • You will need to be able to regularly attend Defence offices as per customer / platform requirements
