This will be achieved by creating communities of practice across BT Group, where stakeholders can share best practices and learnings. The Centre of Excellence will provide the necessary structures, governance, and feedback loops to ensure sustainable, long-term adoption.
About Wayfinder:
Wayfinder, part of the Centre of Excellence, helps digital delivery squads and tribes deliver products and services consistently across BT Group. Created by practitioners for practitioners, Wayfinder offers:
- Practical guidance on embedding delivery practices, principles, and ways of working tested in BT squads.
- A platform for colleagues to share learnings from their squads by contributing content.
- Opportunities to connect with others in their professions to develop expertise.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead Content Creation: Oversee the end-to-end process of creating content for Wayfinder, ensuring clarity, conciseness, and accuracy.
- Develop Standards: As the first full-time content designer, establish and maintain content design standards for the team and future designers.
- Collaborate with SMEs: Work closely with subject matter experts across BT Group to guide content creation through pair writing sessions, interviews, and content development guidance.
- Design Content Structure: Create logical, intuitive content collections within Wayfinder, ensuring easy navigation and access to information.
- Content Review and Quality Assurance: Regularly review and edit content to meet Wayfinder’s standards, reflecting updates to new ways of working and aligning with best practices in user experience and accessibility.
- Ensure Consistency and Brand Alignment: Align all content with BT’s tone of voice, ensuring it is approachable, clear, and accessible, while maintaining consistency in messaging and adhering to BT’s branding.
- Update Existing Content: Review and update previously published content to ensure it remains accurate and useful.
- Champion User-Centred Design: Advocate for a user-centred approach, ensuring all content solves real user problems and enhances the overall user experience.
- Improve Workflow: Review content development processes, collaborating with content owners and Wayfinder contributors to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, user-centred content.
The skills you’ll need
- Proven Content Design Experience: Demonstrated expertise in user-centred design, content strategy, and agile workflows, especially within digital products and services.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Extensive experience collaborating with senior managers, product owners, UX/UI designers, user researchers, and SMEs to create high-quality content that meets both user needs and business objectives.
- Strategic Thinking and Decision-Making: Strong ability to lead the strategic direction of content design, ensuring alignment with broader business goals while maintaining a focus on user experience and brand integrity.
- Leadership in Process Improvement: Proven track record in leading content design processes and driving continuous improvement within teams or cross-functional squads, ensuring design quality and efficient collaboration.
- Stakeholder Management: Skilled in building relationships and managing expectations with key stakeholders at all levels, influencing decisions and guiding content development processes with a focus on user experience and business impact.
