Business Operations Specialist (Financial Management)

What you’ll be doing
- Build and maintain the position management tracker, ensuring all changes to organisational positions (OD) are accurately recorded.
- Support the Leadership Team (LT) with agency resource management, including onboarding and raising purchase orders (POs).
- Understand the vendor landscape within Architecture, including subcontractor and IT costs, tracking spend and recovery, and collaborating with team representatives for further details when needed.
- Monitor and assess the overall Architecture budget position (targets, actuals, forecasts, recoveries, risks), and raise any issues requiring intervention with the LT.
- Track cost transformation initiatives, ensuring relevant projects are included in the Quarterly Submission (QQ), including future pipeline initiatives.
- Provide support to the wider team with ad-hoc requests, such as position management by team.
The skills you'll need
Technical / Knowledge:
- Proven experience in a commercially focused operational support role.
- Strong knowledge and experience with SAP, Oracle, and other financial tools, including Excel.
- Familiarity with BT finance and reporting systems is preferred.
- In-depth understanding of Position Management principles.
- Knowledge of the build and run lifecycle across Technology and IT.
- Strong grasp of core economic drivers of IT services and cost management (e.g., technology towers, consumption, demand).
- Understanding of financial management principles, including cost vs. revenue, capex vs. opex.
- Experience in building financial models.

- Highly analytical with a natural ability to solve complex problems.
Stakeholder Management:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage a variety of stakeholders, including senior leaders, team members, HR, Finance Business Partners, and Suppliers.

- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the proven ability to work under tight deadlines in a team environment.
