The ESN will replace the existing Airwave network and building upon on EE’s existing 4G network and to provide essential new voice, data services, and critical communications services to 300,000 members of frontline emergency service users.


Being able to provide consistent data that describes the capability of the Radio Access Network (RAN) is critically important to all our customers (BT, PlusNet, EE, and Emergency Service Network). You will be responsible for the design and delivery of the radio vendor OSS, including layer 3 trace management  and geolocation systems feeding into network automation, analytics and reporting solutions across vendors technologies.  You will have a direct impact upon Nokia, Ericsson and Cisco Network Element Manager OSS design for O&M and onward data feeds, RAN Tools enhancements/evolutions and creation of high level OSS solution designs focusing on positive customer experience.


The successful candidate will be cleared to BPSS (or equivalent) as a minimum.  You may even be required to undergo National Security Vetting (e.g. CTC, SC or NPPV).
 

What you’ll be doing

•    You will be one of the RAN OSS design authorities to design RAN Element Managers and Trace Management tools which support the ESN contract
•    Working with RAN, Platform and IP Designers, to ensure the vendor OSS platform designs support the demands of the radio and transmission technologies
•    Engaging with technical and non-technical business users using their requirements to propose solution strategy for predicting, planning and visualising RAN data
•    Support resolving customer affected issues regarding RAN Data. Driving efficiency and scalability through the re-use of network designs and ongoing in-life operation of designs across the overall network platform and/or customer solution
•    Advising a matrix (virtual) team of technical experts to deliver network design solutions and provide technical advice to a larger matrix team

What we would like to see on your CV

•    Good understanding of Mobile Radio Network & OSS architectures and the design and operational processes to develop and run the network. Proven experience in OSS design, particularly in Network Element Management platforms
•    Excellent understanding of Nokia MantaRay NM, Ericsson ENM, Cisco EPNM OSS, Trace Management and Geolocation tools. Knowledge of IP Networks, virtual machines and cloud based hosting solutions
•    Excellent Unix/Linux scripting skills(including BASH, PERL and PYTHON). Thorough understanding of radio network infrastructure data, all data formats/protocols for northbound interfaces
•    Proven background in business strategy, organisational performance, finance and KPI’s, data reporting/insights and building a case for change
•    Exposure to working with AWS, Azure or other cloud hosting technology would be desirable

This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
