About the role

Roles in Regulatory Affairs blend relationship building, analysis, problem solving and delivery.  We’re in a unique position, working on strategic opportunities and challenges facing BT Group whilst also getting into the detail of complex operational and policy issues.

The team is about so much more than compliance; it’s an opportunity to shape our products, services and the future regulatory environment, in support of BT’s goals and in-line with regulatory strategy.

We work closely with lawyers, product managers, economists, commercial and service teams, the front line, and colleagues across BT Group, to develop and implement important regulatory plans and policies.  It means bridging different, sometimes conflicting, perspectives and coming to balanced judgements.

We advise senior leaders, with our insights and recommendations helping them understand regulatory risks and opportunities – on issues as diverse as consumer fairness, pricing, scam prevention, network security and resilience, legacy migrations, the 999 service, support for vulnerable customers, online safety, and emerging topics in digital markets.

The career backgrounds of colleagues in the team are broad, with many coming from commercial or service roles – bringing hugely valuable business, customer and operational insight – as well as those with strong regulatory and public policy experience in telecoms and beyond.

  • Problem solving: able to proactively identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively to come up with workable solutions.
  • Analytical skills: collate and interrogate data sets and documents, and draw conclusions.  Not afraid to challenge data owners.
