Financial Control Analyst

KEY PURPOSE OF ROLE

The Analyst will be part of the Group Financial Controls & Assurance (GFCA) team, responsible for delivering assurance over Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICOFR). The role involves performing design and operating effectiveness testing of key financial controls across various business processes and ensuring compliance with internal control frameworks and SOX/ICOFR requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform design assessment of internal controls to ensure they are appropriately designed to address identified financial reporting risks.
  • Execute operating effectiveness testing of key controls as per the defined ICOFR testing methodology.
  • Document test procedures, evidence, and results in line with internal quality standards.
  • Support in identifying control deficiencies, root causes, and assess the impact on financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with process and control owners to ensure timely remediation of control gaps and follow-up on closure.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of Risk & Control Matrices (RCM) and process documentation.
  • Assist in preparing reports and dashboards for senior stakeholders, highlighting testing outcomes and issues.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing control testing results and evidence as required.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to streamline testing, improve efficiency, and enhance assurance delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) with 2–3 years of post-qualification experience in audit, risk, or controls testing.
  • Experience in internal controls, SOX/ICOFR testing, or external/internal audit (Big 4 or large corporate exposure preferred).
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting processes (e.g., Revenue, Procurement, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Financial Close).
  • Working knowledge of COSO framework and internal control principles.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and test internal controls independently.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written) to interact with process owners and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); exposure to tools like SAP, ARIS, Power BI is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple priorities.
