Why this job matters

The purpose of the role is the capacity management, planning & delivery of the 20C UK Voice platforms striking an effective balance between capital utilisation and customer service. To reduce the PSTN platform costs and maintain customer availability through compaction by providing a capability that reduces the network elements for all PSTN products to meet the strategy of the business for re-use, cost reduction, compaction and ultimately closure that doesn’t impact the smooth migration for customers from PSTN to All IP (Digital Voice).

What you’ll be doing

Manage appropriate schedule/workflow to achieve successful outcome
Production of concentrator specific planning packs and jumper schedules that clear equipment ready for decommission and depower 
Provide technical support to delivery agents (Openreach and Field Engineering) for concentrator offloads
Own CI for concentrator compaction
Developing and implementing planning rules in line with 3rd level support and vendor guidance
Monitor the network and review forecasts 
Insuring network design remains fit for purpose 
Ensure the operating model is adhered to (commercial rigor) 
Point of escalation for technical and capacity issues – manage/contribute to resolutions 
Ensuring PSTN compaction and closure is successful

Skills

Data manipulation using Excel and Access
Data input accuracy and attention to detail
PSTN network knowledge
System X & AXE10 concentrator knowledge
Experience of manipulating (cease/change/provide) customer services using System X & AXE10 data
OMC & CSS skills
Capacity management/network planning experience
Knowledge of numbering and WLR3 products
Knowledge of PDH & SDH transmission
