Why this role matters
Transforming BT’s financial control framework is a key objective of the BT board and Executive Committee. Significant investments have been made in recent years to establish a robust COSO-based ICOFR framework. BT’s transformation programs continue to simplify and standardize business processes and IT systems.
In this role, you will drive this transformation by managing the delivery of our annual financial controls assurance plan.
What you'll be doing
- Develop and drive the multi-year financial controls transformation plan.
- Define policies, standards, ways of working, and metrics to ensure consistent delivery of controls transformation across business units.
- Collaborate with BT transformation programs to embed financial control requirements within their delivery plans.
- Manage the annual financial controls assurance plan to support board sign-off of accounts and disclosures related to the effectiveness of financial controls.
- Oversee the Financial Control Group Risk Category (GRC) and contribute to BT’s broader risk management and control framework.
- Prepare monthly CFO dashboards, biannual risk category reports, and board papers to update on the health of the financial control framework.
- Provide guidance and support to unit financial control leads.
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the financial control framework.
- Lead multiple virtual teams to ensure successful delivery of business outcomes.
- Ensure robust IT general controls as well as business controls are in place and effectively managed.
The skills you'll need
- Professionally qualified Auditor, Risk Manager or Accountant
- Experience of developing financial control frameworks in a large, complex organisation
- Demonstrable knowledge and expertise of ICOFR/SOX/COSO frameworks and controls best practices.
- Able to lead multiple virtual teams to drive successful business outcomes
- Skilled in translating technical and business challenges to senior leaders and key stakeholders through both oral and written communication
- Ability to understand, deduplicate, and explain complex controls, both business and IT
- Working with complex IT systems
- SAP systems, particularly GRC
