Why this job matters
The Product & Marketing function plays a critical role in the success of BT Business. It is accountable for shaping the product strategy and roadmap, simplifying the portfolio, designing and launching products, managing strategic partnerships, and leading brand and marketing across all UK customer segments. This area is undergoing significant integration and transformation, working closely with teams across Transformation, Customer Experience, Sales & Commercial, Digital, and IT to align on a single Operating Plan that delivers outstanding products and customer experiences.
This exciting role partners with senior leaders in Product & Marketing to drive a high-performing culture, with a strong focus on accelerating capability uplift and attracting diverse talent to build a true product powerhouse.
The role requires creativity, commercial acumen, and the ability to drive change at pace. You’ll lead the design and delivery of people solutions aligned to the Operating Plan, enabling transformation through organisational design, performance, and capability development. Collaboration will be key — working across People & Culture teams within Business, Digital, Networks, and Centres of Expertise to deliver and co-create impactful HR strategies and processes.
What you’ll be doing
•Support the implementation of the BT People Strategy across the business unit, enabling delivery of strategic goals and business direction.
•Partner with the business to implement initiatives that enhance employee engagement and ensure people plans align with broader HR strategy, policies, and priorities.
•Contribute across key HR areas such as workforce planning, performance, engagement, organisational design and development, talent and leadership development, and employee relations to address both current and future workforce needs.
•Collaborate with senior leaders to review and refine the operating model, ensuring it meets the needs of the business unit and supports strategic objectives.
•Co-create engagement plans with senior leaders, linking cultural outcomes and potential risks to business goals while offering clear, practical solutions.
•Provide coaching and development to leaders at all levels, mitigate people-related risks, drive leadership succession planning, and support the development of capability, performance, and healthy churn.
•Help shape and deliver integrated strategic and tactical workforce plans that ensure the right skills are available in the right locations at the right time.
•Lead and coordinate HR activities such as recruitment, resourcing, absence, performance, and employee relations in partnership with matrixed specialist HR teams to execute the people plan effectively.
•Ensure all business activities are aligned with local legislative requirements and are delivered in a way that protects and enhances BT’s reputation for the long term.
The skills you'll need to succeed
•Typically graduate-level education or equivalent experience; MCIPD or a relevant business/professional qualification.
•Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness to evaluate financial and people-related risks, with the ability to take appropriate mitigating action.
•Able to develop and maintain trusted relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
•Consistently role models that customers are the reason we exist—places delivering excellent customer solutions at the heart of decision-making.
•Proven track record in HR business partnering, leadership, people transformation, and driving cultural change.
•Able to navigate difficult situations with thoughtfulness and professionalism; role models honest, respectful feedback and manages multiple stakeholders effectively.
•Uses strong analytical skills and intuition to interpret business insights and trends; leverages data to drive decisions and create impactful solutions.
•Demonstrates the ability to engage, inspire, and influence others at all levels.
•Deep technical HR knowledge with a strong ability to apply it in practical, business-focused ways.
•Open to experimentation and new approaches; applies agile principles and delivers outcomes through a variety of methods.
Experience Required:
•Previous HR Business Partnering experience within a complex organisation.
•Proven experience in delivering people transformation initiatives.
•Demonstrated success in leading change management, people transformation, and cultural change.
