Growing coverage, enhancing performance and increasing resilience will be the most important elements of building this vital communications network, which the Emergency Services will rely on to save lives and protect us all.
The ESN will replace the existing Airwave network building upon EE’s existing 4G network to provide voice, data and critical communications services to 300,000 frontline emergency service users.
The ESN Finance team is crucial to supporting the delivery of this mission critical infrastructure, supporting the programme on a day-to-day basis, partnering with the programme to achieve the financial plans. Key stakeholders are sub-programmes (Delivery, Service and Commercial teams) and Home Office.
You will be required to undergo National Security Vetting to SC or NPPV level.
What you’ll be doing
- Business partners with sub-programmes to provide financial insights to inform strategic decision making, owning sub-programme end to end financials.
- Leads delivery of end-to-end financial planning and reporting processes for the sub-programme, providing input and insight to inform business partnering activities, decision making and performance management.
- Establishes working relationships with stakeholders (programme delivery, commercial, networks and Home Office) and builds rapport to become a key trusted advisor, providing finance business partnering to various areas of the business.
- Provides challenge and insight to programme to deliver within budget envelope.
- Implements continuous improvement opportunities to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial processes.
- Ensures all business partnering activities are carried out in compliance with, local legislative and regulatory requirements, considering risk and uncertainty in short-term decisions and ensures that risks are identified and managed.
- Ensures timely and accurate billing to customer, including query and dispute resolution, where required.
The skills you’ll need
What we would like to see on your CV
- Be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders and projects across matrix teams.
- Strong financial planning and forecasting skills, especially for long-term projects up to seven years.
- Experience in financial control, including monthly financial close processes and financial accounting knowledge, is important.
- Advanced Excel skills focused on financial modelling are required, along with familiarity with SAP S/4 and preferably SAP RP1.
- A background in telecoms or technology and experience working on CapEx-heavy projects or government contracts is advantageous.

This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
