Why this job matters
This role is responsible for managing sales activity across a defined portfolio, primarily focused on several Fire & Rescue organisations in England. The position holds full accountability for the new sales elements of the profit and loss within the account base. This includes understanding how customer budgets are structured and aligning resources effectively to secure new business. The role requires a high level of autonomy in managing customer relationships, while ensuring all activity is conducted in line with BT’s code of practice.
What you’ll be doing

Contribute proactively to the account strategy by supporting the Sales Director in the development and execution of Account Strategies and Account Development Plans for your nominated clients.

Take ownership of building and maintaining successful, sustainable, and profitable long-term customer relationships, including managing complex stakeholder hierarchies and handling escalations at the appropriate level.

Develop a deep understanding of each customer’s requirements and transformational roadmap, ensuring robust and up-to-date Account Development Plans are in place. These should accurately reflect the competitive landscape and BT’s positioning within it.

Drive continuous improvement in customer satisfaction and support efforts to increase Net Promoter Scores within your account portfolio.

Define, develop, and own the customer contact strategy, ensuring strong, strategic relationships with key stakeholders are maintained and enhanced.

Experience in a sales or business development role within the telecommunications or technology sector.

Demonstrated success in designing and delivering complex, commercially viable customer solutions—ideally with deep knowledge of BT’s products and services, or comparable experience across mobile, fixed voice, cloud, and data solutions.

Experience engaging at a senior (e.g. C-suite) level within UK private and/or local government sectors.

Familiarity with a range of professional sales methodologies, such as SPIN Selling, NLP, or other recognised frameworks.

Proven ability to lead virtual teams to deliver customer-focused managed services and solutions.

A strong track record of sales success and account development with large public sector or government clients.
