Why this role matters

The VAT Manager will provide expert advice and support on all technical VAT matters across BT Group. Working with a variety of stakeholders, across all Customer Facing Units, the role holder will lead on VAT related system developments and communicate best practice VAT process and controls.

What you'll be doing

  • Advise and support UK Customer Facing Units and legal teams.
  • Project lead on VAT related systems development in BT
  • Project manage the development and implementation of VAT planning opportunities as required by the business
  • Monitor publications by advisers and other technical sources and research on technical matters which affect BT Group operations
  • Assist in discussions with HMRC

The skills you'll need

  • Exceptional technical VAT knowledge
  • Understanding of best practice tax processes and controls, with experience of delivering process and control improvements including the use of new technology.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems such as SAP / Oracle / SAGE / AX
  • Experience of partnering with non-tax teams
  • Tax qualification or VAT trained at HMRC or part / fully qualified accountant.
  • Experience in presenting to senior management.
