Our Regulatory Affairs team is fundamental to delivering BT's strategy and achieving the best for its customers. Sitting within BT Group’s Corporate Functions, the team partners across the whole of BT, providing individuals with the opportunity to work on projects across multiple aspects of the business. We perform a critical role in shaping the regulatory framework, supporting the business in its understanding and implementing its regulatory obligations, managing both risk and opportunity for the business. This helps enable the business to innovate, compete fairly and deliver better services for our customers and for wider society. You will be joining an excellent team recognised at both ExCo and board level within BT, forming a truly integral part in the delivery of our overall strategy. 

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide analytical input and gather data and information to support BT’s interests on regulatory issues

 

  • Assist in the writing of responses to consultations, internal briefings and presentations on regulatory issues for both internal and external use

 

  • Build a network of contacts with other functions such as legal, competition finance, regulatory compliance and public policy teams to understand and develop regulatory issues, and gather information to inform regulatory policy development

 

  • Respond to statutory information requests from regulatory bodies

 

  • Work with the wider team to co-ordinate and represent reg input on cross BT-Group work

 

  • Communicate regulatory advice clearly to senior colleagues and other teams.

 

  • Maintain attention to detail to understand and apply regulations precisely.

 

  • Stay organized to track information and avoid missing details.

 

  • Invest time to learn telecoms regulations set by Ofcom and related bodies.

  • Communication – Able to explain complex regulatory matters clearly across visual, written, and verbal formats to varied audiences

  • Curiosity & Perspective – Engaging with the wider political and regulatory environment, seeking new insights and broader context

Relevant Experience

  • Regulatory compliance, government policy, or influencing regulators
  • Working with or within regulators (especially Ofcom)
  • Background in government, consultancy, or telecoms would be desirable
  • Representing Regulatory Affairs in cross-functional and external settings
