This is an exciting opportunity to help bring the policy, standards and control frameworks to life so that it supports quality decision-making and contributes to BT becoming more valuable and resilient.
The Manager – Controls & Assurance supports the overall governance, maintenance and continuous improvement of the BT policies and key control framework, including delivery of centralised testing of Key Controls.
What you'll be doing
- Design: Deliver projects to continually improve the design of Policies, Standards and Key Controls at both a Group Risk Category (GRC) and Unit level, sharing best practice and helping to bring it to life and make it relevant to people’s day job.
- Maintenance: Support the GRC and Unit Risk & Controls teams in keeping the Key Control Framework up to date.
- Self-assessment process: Co-ordinate the bi-annual self-assessment of Key Controls across all Units.
- Assurance Delivery: Support the delivery of centralised testing of Key Controls where GRCs are lacking capacity, skills or independence to provide assurance.
- GRC Health Checks: Carry out ‘health checks’ on application of the key deliverables of the Risk, Control and Assurance Standards within each GRC.
- Reporting: Support the delivery of consistent and high-quality reports giving visibility on the effectiveness of the Unit risk management and control activities to Unit Leadership Teams, ARC, QBRs and the Board.
The skills you'll need
- Experience in control management and/or assurance in organisations commensurate with the scale and complexity of BT.
- Experience providing clear output to business leaders and oversight committees on the effectiveness of the control environment.
- Understanding of external requirements in relation to risk, controls and assurance, in particular the UK Corporate Governance Code.
- Clear communicator who is confident liaising with senior leaders
