About this job role

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Technical Delivery within the Enterprise CFU Directorate, this is a rare opportunity to join a startup-style organisation inside BT and to begin to empirically answer the big question for BT innovation today:  how do we bring in from the outside the best elements of enterprise software startup practices and culture, while preserving what is best about BT’s extant technology organizations with nearly 200 years of heritage?


The technical delivery function as we know it at BT must morph into a technology product management model focused on winning customers and markets – both internal and external – with agility. Objectivity, lack of ego, performance-driven decision-making, design thinking, inclusivity and thinking outside of the box are essential attributes of a successful candidate. This role will contribute to the organisational design (OD) and build-out of a product-led technology management function for the Enterprise CFU Directorate in the Data & AI unit.  The new operating model for the OD must de-risk, accelerate and optimize the transition from legacy IT technical delivery (BAU) to a scaled up agile product management model for continuous delivery of rapidly growing data + AI platform/product/services primarily in cloud (GCP, AWS).


Your main responsibilities 

  • Seamlessly manages the delivery of platforms/products/managed services of both the on premise/legacy portfolio owned by the CFU and the Digital cloud portfolio owned by the Directorate.
  • Contributes to technology strategy to inform portfolio development for both the CFU and Directorate.
  • Continuously improves standards, policies and processes for product, design and engineering teams to ensure on time, on target deliveries.
  • Manages escalations and blockers on behalf of product, design and engineering managers.
  • Provides technical knowledge and creates roadmaps that adhere to Digital’s cloud architecture standards.


Main skills/experience required

  • Strategic mastery: understanding of business drivers and market forces to link the goals of the business with team missions (OKRs).
  • Technical delivery mastery: creating the environment for optimal collaboration, cross-training and problem-solving while delivering on time, on budget and on target – every time.
  • Agile/Lean Practitioner: Knowledge and working experience of Agile & Lean practices, policies, values and behaviours.
