Why this job matters

As the Digital Learning Design Manager, the role is accountable for influencing, driving and executing the L&D digital design strategy through their own solutions and outputs of their team. This L&D strategy drives a learning and performance culture within our business, one that underpins employee skills development and enables strategic business objectives.

 

In terms of complexity, the role manages a team of Digital Learning Design Specialists who are accountable for defining and building learning solutions that resolve the identified business performance need / gap. They do this for all functions to support our global business, specialising in systems, product and behavioural training.

 

As well as being the manager of the team, as a senior designer, the role is expected to get hands-on in the design and delivery of more complex multi-unit solutions. Credible role-modelling and mentoring-by-doing is critical.

 

The role requires a high level of industry expertise in the profession of ‘learning’ in particular ‘adult learning’ in a business with the scale, reach, complexity and diversity of BT. The role also requires expertise in the latest and ever-evolving use of technology to drive a ‘21st century’ approach to learning, skills development and performance support.

What you’ll be doing

  • Day-to-day management of a team of Digital Learning Design Professionals - including forecasting, prioritisation 
    and scheduling of all activities.
  • Management and delivery of a portfolio of learning projects across multiple units across Business
  • Role model and get ‘hands-on’ in delivering complex pan Business learning solutions
  • Communication and planning strategies to ensure design projects are delivered on time and in line with governance standards
  • Driving a ‘customer centric mindset’ placing both the Customer and Employee at the heart of experiential led learning design
  • Ensuring consistent learning design practices and standards which seek to reduce duplication, increase repurposing and drive standardisation
  • Building effective relationships and feedback loops with L&D LT, L&T Managers, CC Managers, LP Professionals and peers that drive a Continual Improvement mindset

The skills you'll need

Essential

 

  • Hands-on expertise in the profession of digital learning design
  • Expert in leading a team, and developing capability ofDigital Learning Design Specialists through coaching, mentoring and role-modelling
  • Proficiency in learning andragogy including currentand future / learning methodologies and proven best 
    practice / application

 

Desirable

 

  • End-to-end execution of customer focussed, impact driven, efficient learning solutions
  • Proficiency in learning andragogy including current and future / learning methodologies and proven best 
    practice / application
  • Ability to influence the wider L&D strategy and agenda, including other learning specialists and teams across the function and the wider Group
  • Ability to work in a matrix-management environment, directing the activities of others

  • 10% on target bonus
