Why this job matters

The Content Distribution Specialist will be accountable for the technical and service management of TV services, acting as the technical authority for a wide range of TV services and capabilities. The role has a key focus on TV headend environments and their distribution.
You will be accountable to the Senior Manager for Service and Operations & your role will be leading the evolution of BT’s exceptional TV team.  As a subject matter expect on BT’s operational capabilities, you will apply knowledge and experience to drive improvement or replacement of workflows, tools and processes with an open mind and solid ownership to not only conceive but deliver these goals. 
 

What you’ll be doing

  • Use in-depth expertise and end to end understanding or lead others in the diagnosis of complex multi-site/multi-component incidents, likely major service impact/risk and pan-BT
  • Working alongside designers and developers to integrate and build new exciting TV features.
  • To reflect and communicate improvements on the systems, workflows or tools to eliminate or lessen the risk of repeat incidents
  • Articulating business requirements and commercial necessity to technical or non-technical teams
  • Managing internal and external relationships, building understanding and support from diverse sources and disciplines
  • Technical authority internally and externally with the ability to communicate complex technical information in a simple and engaging way
  • Technical leadership mentoring and inspiring members of the team
  • Identifying and working with all the relevant platform architects and process architects to ensure that the team agree with the solution and that the solution works end to end
  • Technical understanding of multiple platforms to component level and a desire to learn new platforms and adjusting ways of working appropriately

Skills required

Technical Skills

  • Adva, Appear TV, Elemental, Harmonic experience desirable
  • AWS and Azure experience useful
  • Encoding and packaging experience both on-prem and cloud based
  • Unified Streaming and Media Packager experience
  • SRT , RTMP, Multicast and general IP broadcast transport knowledge
  • Cisco networking experience
  • Dataminer experience

Qualifications and certifications 

  • Preferable: Appropriate Technical qualifications, Knowledge of other broadcast, cloud and networking technologies.
  • Mandatory: Dynamic, tenacious, enthusiastic and open-minded.
  • Experience: Network Design, Delivery and or Operations.
