The Environment Software Specialist has responsibility for the creation and development of internal tooling to support the Environment & Model Teams.  With a strong technical understanding in software development the Environment Software Specialist will play a pivotal role in shaping the teams automation journey ensuring new ways of working and an agile mindset are embedded across the wider team.

What you’ll be doing

•    Executes and contributes to the development of the ambitious and compelling technical roadmap to meet the needs of the business, Environment, Model and partner teams
•    Executes software and operational excellence initiatives, implementing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement
•    Drives an automation culture that fosters innovation and creativity while delivering high quality products with predictability and reliability
•    Writes, tests and reviews code, refining and rewriting as necessary independently and communicates to engineering professionals and colleagues involved in the project
•    Solves complex and escalated aspects of a project, performing coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting when necessary
•    Plays a positive contributor role in the software engineering organisation, implementing the technical vision and the pursuit of innovations regarding new technologies, platforms and applications
•    Evaluates, implements and maintains high-quality tools and complex automation processes to support continuous delivery and developer productivity
•    Mentors other software engineers, helping to improve the team’s abilities by acting as a technical resource
•    Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in software engineering
•    Aligns tooling requirements with Environment & Model Strategy
•    Responsible for customer satisfactions of internal toolsets

Experience you'll be expected to have

  • Advanced experience with Python
  • Management of distributed NoSQL Database Services (MongoDB)
  • Strong experience in building and maintain GitLab pipelines
  • Experience in maintaining and updating Red Hat Linux
  • Understanding and experience in developing API’s and REST services
  • You've aligned project plans and objectives with our strategy and values.
  • You've actively participated in strategy setting sessions.
  • You've moved outside of expected process or practice to suit the needs of a customer, colleague or client.
  • You've worked with people from other business locations or functions.
