Why this job matters

The Tribe Architect is a key role driving the technical direction covering Voice, Customer contact, and Collaboration portfolios for BT Business. 

This role matters because it is the technical leadership of every tribe, it is the thinker that makes sure we have the right roadmap that joins the technical strategy & architecture with the business outcomes for the tribe. 

It is key as it’s moving the architecture decision making closer to the work, speeding up and simplifying making sure the architecture is being rolled out. 


The TA maintains the decisions and backlog of technical debt too, for decisions made to not build strategically the TA will be accountable for those decisions balancing the business outcomes vs goal of building the strategic and ensuring we don’t have to build tactically because we didn’t have the right roadmap. 

What you’ll be doing

As a Voice and Collaboration Architect, you will play a pivotal role in driving our strategy for customer contact solutions. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cutting-edge technologies that enhance how we connect with our customers.

  • Leading Innovative Projects: Design and implement voice and collaboration solutions that elevate customer interactions and drive engagement.
  • Customer-Centric Focus: Champion empathy-driven design principles to ensure our products meet the evolving needs of our customers.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with various departments to foster seamless communication and collaboration, breaking down silos for improved service delivery.
  • Analyze and Optimize: Utilize data analytics to gain insights into customer behavior and operational efficiency, driving informed decision-making.
  • Ensure Security and Compliance: Advocate for security by design, ensuring our solutions comply with industry standards and protect customer data.
  • Mentor and Support: Share your expertise with team members and support them in maximizing the value of our solutions.

Skills and Experiences

Mandatory Skills

  • VoIP and SIP Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technologies and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for managing voice communications over IP networks.
  • Network Architecture: Strong understanding of network design principles, including Quality of Service (QoS) and traffic management, to ensure high-quality voice and collaboration services.
  • Telecommunications Standards: Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, ensuring compliance and best practices in voice and collaboration solutions.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex projects, including planning, execution, and resource management, to deliver voice and collaboration solutions on time and within budget.
  • Customer Contact Solutions: Experience with customer contact technologies, including cloud contact centers and inbound voice services, to enhance customer interactions.
  • Collaboration Tools: Proficiency in collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex) and their integration with voice services to facilitate seamless communication.
  • Security Protocols: Knowledge of security measures specific to voice and collaboration communications, such as encryption and secure signaling, to protect against vulnerabilities.
  • Cloud Solutions: Experience with cloud-based voice and collaboration solutions, such as Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS), to support scalable and flexible architectures.
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile practices to facilitate rapid development and deployment of voice and collaboration solutions, promoting adaptability in project management.
  • Certified in any of: Togaf, Safe, Agile planning or equivalent ones. 

 

Desired Skills

  • Data Analytics: Ability to analyze voice traffic and collaboration data to optimize performance and identify trends for continuous improvement.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders, from technical teams to executive leadership, ensuring alignment and understanding.
  • Emerging Technologies: Awareness of new technologies in telecommunications, such as 5G and IoT, and their implications for voice and collaboration services.
  • Vendor Management: Experience in managing relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure quality service delivery and compliance with SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  • Change Management: Skills in guiding teams through transitions and transformations in voice and collaboration technologies, ensuring smooth adoption and integration.
