Why this job matters
The BT Group Transformation Governance & Assurance team is part of the Strategy & Change (S&C) Unit led by the Chief S&C Officer, which in turn is part of the BT Group Corporate Units
One of the primary objectives of the Group S&C team is to accelerate and enhance the delivery of BT’s transformation. In support of this the objectives of the Transformation Governance & Assurance team are to:
• Equip ExCo and other leaders with relevant and timely insight on the performance of the portfolio of transformation programmes to ensure delivery, manage interdependencies and address risks
• Provide independent periodic assurance on select programmes over time to ensure information presented is accurate and identify opportunities for acceleration or risk management
The role works closely with the Senior Managers of Transformation Governance and Transformation Assurance, Group colleagues and unit transformation to execute a number of workstreams enabling the desired levels of risk mitigation and insight to govern and assure BT’s transformation.
Key elements of the role include:
Governance
• Support the flawless and timely preparation, agendas and coordination of transformation governance, to prep CEO and Chief S&C Officer ahead of transformation sessions.
• Develop regular transformation updates for all stakeholders, focused on the most important dependencies between units that require CEO and Chief S&C Officer attention
• Contribute to maintenance of an active risk register, KPI tracking and risk management plan, and work collaboratively with transformation programme leaders to address risks
Assurance
• Manage specific elements or within an assigned area the adoption of a global assurance and testing framework, including maturing, developing and maintaining of a combination of controls, training, risk assessment, policies, procedures and management information.
• Partner with other assurance professionals to ensure end to end plans contain the right ambition, are on track and interdependencies managed
• Create close partnerships and alignment with business function SMEs, individual programme directors and other critical stakeholders to advise on management of value leakage and risks and development of action plans to address issues, risks and opportunities
• Identify and support in controlling operational risks and critical interdependencies and making recommendations for remediation solutions, roadblocks and decisions required.
The skills you'll need
• Ability to work effectively within a team, supporting and learning from senior members
• Understanding of project management principles and ability to QA planning and execution
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to interpret data under guidance
• Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with team members and stakeholders
• Adept at dealing with changing priorities and keen to learn new skills
• Problem solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and escalate them appropriately
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
• Proficiency in relevant programme and portfolio software and tools
The experience you'll have
• Experience of working on transformation programmes in multiple industries, in particular cost efficiency programmes and business operation simplification
• Good understanding of the technology and telco sector
• Experience of contributing to the implementation of governance structures and assurance frameworks
• Experience of executing Programme Assurance on large, multi-year programmes and portfolios with meaningful impact of recommendations made
