Why this role matters

The Corporate and Public Sector (CPS) team is the heart land of Enterprise supporting national and international businesses and public sector organisations across the UK. These customers do not buy off the shelf products but instead want solutions and product portfolios that solve their organisational challenges to drive efficiency and productivity. 
As part of the Corporate and Public Sector Customer Solutions team, the role of the Project and Programme Manager is to launch new capabilities that the sales teams can sell to our customers in order to get Enterprise back to growth. This role is a critical part of our Customer Solutions team and is responsible for building and fostering a culture of quality, ownership and pride. You will be a change agent who will challenge and own outcomes not just deliver Projects. The role holder will be responsible for managing a large complex project, or a significant component of a large programme.  The nature of the assignment will always be to deliver quality customer outcomes or solutions right across the project lifecycle.
 

Your Accountabilities

•    Lead and inspire a team of Project Managers and Professionals to implement the Corporate and Public Sector roadmap, supporting new propositions for growth 
•    Responsible for tracking and delivering programmes of work against budget and business case, ensuring they are delivered on time and exceed our current quality standards, enabling great experiences for our customers and colleagues 
•    Ensure the team is embedding robust Project Management controls to manage project governance, scope, risk and issues, dependencies, resource planning, budget management and reporting
•    Engage with key stakeholders from across the business, including Propositions and Product owners, to scope and mobilise projects, drive decisions, remove roadblocks and hold teams accountable for their commitments
•    Lead communications with the project teams and work to drive strong, open and sustained communication channels both within Enterprise and with key stakeholders
•    Challenge the status quo to drive more effective ways of working and deliver impactful business change that really supports our Corporate and Public sector customers’ needs
•    Key member within the CPS Customer Solutions Programme Leadership team – which includes helping set the change agenda, providing thinking and inputs into how best we can develop our team and identifying opportunities to improve our ways of working 
 

Skills required for the role

•    Experience of large, complex programme delivery within both the Waterfall and Agile methodologies 
•    Have a problem solving mindset, providing guidance and counsel on complex and unfamiliar situations, not just with your direct reports, but also across the organisation to drive collaboration and find resolutions
•    Ability to lead a matrixed team across multiple locations, inspiring the vision of the programme and ensuring alignment of priorities across Enterprise
•    Managing complex stakeholders, with the ability to influence, guide, challenge, particularly with Senior Stakeholders (Snr Managers and Director Level) 
•    Storytelling - drive and role model the articulation of the most complex concepts and/or data using simple, compelling and coherent narratives. Deliver narratives to internal audiences at all levels consistently judging the demands of the situation in order to tailor the messaging accordingly
•    Systems thinking - put projects into operation. Consider different perspectives, the organisational context and behaviours and the links between structure, people, process and technology to make sure we succeed
 

Experience and Qualifications

•    Minimum 5 Years Project Management experience with supporting qualifications (Prince 2 / MSP / Agile etc)
•    Working up to and regularly engaging with senior stakeholders (at least Director Level)
•    Promote empowerment of the team, ensuring each team member is engaged in the project and making meaningful contributions, and be able to encourage a sustainable pace with high levels of quality across the team
•    Relevant industry experience within a B2B environment and broad knowledge of technology or telecoms
•    Change management (Technology, Organisational & cultural skills)
•    Experience of development of procedures and processes
•    Negotiation skills
•    Agile experience
