Why this job matters

 

We play an important role in positioning BT on its transformation journey. To achieve this, BT must not only deliver on its obligations to shareholders and DI&S commitments, it must also communicate its progress to key stakeholders, including multinational customers served by its International unit.

You will work closely with the International external comms team, International content marketing and industry analyst team, and the Group digital communications team to create engaging social media content for social media channels. This includes text, illustrations, infographics, animations and video.

 

What you’ll be doing – your accountabilities

 

  • Provide strategic social media counsel to senior stakeholders, including members of the International Leadership Team, subject matter experts and Senior Management Team.
  • Support corporate digital communications including strategy, campaigns, channels and content.
  • Oversee day-to-day management of social media channels, working closely with colleagues in external communications, content marketing and industry analyst relations to ensure the social media strategy aligns with business priorities.
  • Create compelling digital content - including video, website copy, infographics, news content and social media assets.
  • Use a range of copywriting techniques to make the message clear, concise and compelling. Take into account cultural sensitivities.
  • Be creative and proactive in identifying and positioning stories with innovative angles to maximise impact on social media channels.
  • Be responsible for the quality of outcomes and demonstrate the value and results for BT.
  • Safeguard sensitive customer information at all times, so that customers perceive BT to be a trustworthy organisation.

 

The skills you’ll need to succeed

 

  • You’ll have experience in social media and digital communications, and must have some all-round corporate communications experience.
  • You’ll have a keen sense of how a digital presence should be maintained and have an innate curiosity for digital products and platforms.
  • You’ll be an energetic, creative and collaborate partner with experience of working in and navigating a complex matrix environment that includes coordination with many differing stakeholders and audiences.
  • You will have a keen sense of what makes a good story and the ability to use story-telling to drive engagement among BT plc audiences.
  • You’ll bring up to date knowledge of key issues, trends and drivers in digital marketing and social media.
  • You’ll have a good understanding on how to brief and manage a digital agency to deliver major digital campaigns and assets.
  • Excellent programme management skills with the capability to juggle a range of large projects and consistently deliver results. 

 

Experience you’d be expected to have

 

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in digital communications role in the global B2B space, with a proven track record in technology (IT, cybersecurity, telco, etc).
  • Experience of working in a dynamic multinational environment.
  • Agency and budget management experience.
  • Typically, degree and post graduate qualification in a related subject (e.g. science, engineering, business / marketing / communications).
  • Comprehensive B2B social media knowledge.
  • Sound technology knowledge.
