Why this job matters

  • This leads engagement of security expertise into change initiatives pan BT and managing escalations where necessary ensure timely support for urgent change and where security risks are maturing and where consultancy direction isn’t being followed.
  • It provides chapter lead resource engagement for driving our Guide, Trust, Verify working with the GTV transformation team in successful adoption of GTV across the business.
  • It strives to develop a federated approach to 1st line security by empowering the business to act for itself with guidance from Security.
  • It ensures that all activity the business engages in is delivered in a fashion that minimizes risk overall to within established patterns and guardrails.

What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities

  • Accountable for understanding the wider transformation and change plans across the business to optimise security consultancy engagement in the right initiatives with a goal to build security patterns and guidance in support of the goals of Guide, Trust, Verify by having the guidance ready when capabilities are consumed by individual projects.
  • Drives the need for chapter lead engagement across BT in support of the GTV transformation plan and supporting the successful execution of the GTV transformation
  • Continually optimises triaging business change and supporting the drive to develop a federated approach to 1st line security by empowering the business to act for itself with guidance from Security working collaboratively with the Senior Manager of Security Consultancy Practise
  • Manages conflict and escalation at senior levels where necessary and ensures timely escalation to the Technical Security Director where projects are at jeopardy due to either resourcing concerns or project ignoring directions from security consultants.
  • Focuses on driving cultural attitudes to security through every interaction ensuring that education on the desired outcomes reaches every corner of the business.
  • Actions continuous improvement opportunities for the processes underpinning security engagement and the wider security department.
  • Ensures that appropriate security governance is embedded where necessary across wider business operating processes. 
  • Consults and seeks feedback from business stakeholders using organic methods, ensuring that actions are swiftly identified and owned.
  • Considers and reports on the wider trajectory of business demand to support the security leadership to make informed decisions on appropriate resourcing in the MTP.

 

Skills required for the job

  • Ability to communicate and effective in influencing strategic direction at director level as well as with external partners/industry.
  • Storytelling with data: strong skills in explaining complex situations and the need for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences at director and MD level. 
  • Inspiring communicator: experience presenting to and influencing external senior audiences – peer level CSO, analysts, etc.
  • You examine many potential ideas and evaluate each one against our business goals and strategy. You provide guidance and expertise and coach others to investigate new information and discover new insights and possibilities.
