Why this job matters
- The purpose of this role is to address the market opportunity for our complex IP and/or Data Networking portfolio within a defined territory, to grow market share and customer revenues, by providing specialist technical knowledge to grow existing customer spend into future revenue streams and acquire new business
- To understand customer needs whilst aligning to BT and Channel Strategy to move to new IP and Data Networking products for our SMB Small Business customers.
- Responsible for working alongside the Sales Agents to coach and create, develop and close sales through sustained prospecting and activity – motivating, coaching and supporting to success
- Be an advocate for BT Sales methodology to build rapport and establish long lasting relationships with customers to become a trusted advisor.
- In addition, Specialists are responsible for driving Acquisition sales to support market share growth.
What you’ll be doing
- Achieves 100% or more of product set target aligned to territory using Sales methodology & sales plans.
- You lead the review, analysis and interpretation of sales trends across their applicable product pillars for ensuring the delivery of sales and commercial KPIs. You set up and implement the commercial levers that will drive and optimise these KPIs to maximise sales performance and take corrective actions.
- Maintain a high awareness and knowledge of the SMB Small Business market, including industry, competitors and telecoms and internal activities (and guide others to do the same) to ensure that all business opportunities are identified, considered and implemented appropriately contributing to the wider Sales Strategy.
- Sales management & coaching capability as well as complex stakeholder management skills. Including:-
- Customer – inc. C-level, varying customer size,
- BT – Sales Agents, Specialist peers, Trading, Commercial, Customer Service & Order Management, Propositions, Product, Marketing.
- Technical knowledge on specific products & services - Be an exemplar for BT system usage and drive the right behaviours of SF.com and other appropriate systems.
Experience required for the job
- IP and Networking sales skills - understand the market and key drivers from customers to change providers.
- Business acumen - Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, commercial acumen and financial literacy (e.g. business KPIs, customer ROI, business cases).
- Planning & organisation – co-ordinate with other sales specialists to create new and maximise existing opportunities within the Sales territory.
- Team working - work closely with Trading and Finance teams on key deals that require special pricing (War Room) to secure revenue for BT.
- Collaboration skills - collaborate with Propositions & Product teams to provide win/loss feedback to ensure our products are developed to optimise market opportunity.

BT have moved to a hybrid working model - you can work from home 2 days per week. This means you’ll be at your contractual location 3 days a week.
